There are sayings for almost everything these days; that one about the moss-free rolling

stone, those two birds in the bush and all those cooks who ruined dinner. Which got us

to thinking – what is the proverb of KNOG? To put our obsession with urban riding, our

penchant for creativity and our fancy for the proverbial ‘good times’, into words?

But when the closest thing we got was ‘When riding upon the KNOG ship of light, soaring

free, fast and half-drunk through the streets, remember to check you’re wearing pants’, we gave

up on proverbs and thought it best to give you all a chance to express yourselves instead.

Because where would a bicycle be without it’s rider? Or a pen without a writer?

Or a fun book of activities without anyone to fill in the puzzles and draw moustaches on

all the pictures?

So time to get busy – your activity book needs you!

Unless you were conceived on the sticky floor of an opium den, your folks would’ve no doubt had the firm belief that you would grow up to be a well-adjusted child genius – blossoming into a multi-billionaire and part-time genetic-scientist/poet/philanthropist. But as history recounts, you blew it. 190g unsalted butter, softened 1 cup (220g) caster sugar 2 tsp vanilla-bean paste or vanilla extract 3 eggs 2 1/3 cups (350g) self-raising flour, sifted 1 cup (250ml) milk 220g dark chocolate 1 cup (250ml) thickened cream 1 cup desiccated or shredded coconut

Method

1.Preheat the oven to 170°C. Grease and line a 20cm-square cake pan. Process butter and sugar in a processor for 2 minutes until light. Add 1 tsp vanilla. Add eggs one at a time, pulsing after each until just combined. In 3 alternating batches, add flour and milk, pulsing to combine. Pour into pan and bake for 55-60 minutes until a skewer inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool for 5 minutes, then turn onto a rack to cool completely.

2.Meanwhile, stir chocolate, cream and remaining vanilla in a heatproof bowl over simmering water until smooth (don't let the bowl touch water). Chill for 20 minutes to thicken. Chop the cake into even squares. Spread this icing over all sides of the cakes, then sprinkle top and sides with coconut.

Knog, like much of the bike industry, has opted to use Lumens as a measure of brightness (how bright a light appears to be to the human eye). This is not as simple as it sounds, as light is a spreads a little like sugar in a cake mix. – 1 pound of sugar to two pounds of flour make for a sweet cake – whereas the same 1 pound of sugar mixed into 10 pounds of flour will give you biscuits. note - Lamington Recipe

We measure our lights output in Lumens from a 1.5 metres distance assessing the reflected light across a one metre radius. From experience we believe this is the most honest way to assess the visual brightness and performance of our bike lights inthe streets that we cycle daily.

Spread broader beam of light ensures greater visual visibility

LED lights by nature illuminate at a pin-point. Un-assisted by a lens, they are incredibly bright at the centre point but offer minimal radial illumination. Hence lens design is paramount to achieve a spread.

Knog superior optics are designed to spread the LED light to where it is most needed achieving better side illumination. This is helpful when riding on a dark bike path enabling you to more easily see overhanging branches, and paths to the side. And possibly, more importantly, in traffic, you are more visible to cars and other road users.
