There are two things that continue to make the People’s Choice Festival unique. One is that every artist, food vendor, and entertainment group has roots in Pennsylvania. Local artists began that tradition with about 60 booths in 1992, now expanded to 185 artisans in 2012, the largest number ever.

The second special touch is the commitment to be family-friendly and budget-friendly. “We wanted to offer affordable crafts and a family experience,” said Cindy Rocky, one of the festival’s co-directors, “with Pennsylvania artists only.” Cindy started out as an artist at the second festival and has been involved ever since.

Dix Honda is proud to return as the presenting sponsor of the festival in this, its 20th year.

Parents and grandparents love to bring the children to People’s Choice. Though about 100,000 visitors come by during the four-day festival, it doesn’t seem crowded at all. That’s because it takes place on acres of beautiful grassy lawns in front of the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg. The site is ringed with trees and there are two dining tents and two entertainment tents for a quick respite from sun or rain.

The center, ringed by the artisan circle, is where the kids flock – with art and science activities, youth artisan sales, face painting, big bouncy inflatables, and animals. This

year, there’s a petting zoo, Nittany Greyhound adoptions, and pony rides. Only the pony rides come with a fee, which is donated to Ashburn’s Animals on a Mission.

Mt. Nittany Medical Center is hosting a teddy bear hospital on Thursday and the State College High Thespians will present Storytime Theatre on Sunday. Look out for the Tumblebus, Little Smilin’ Choo Choo (which you can ride, too), and a presentation by the Penn State karate team on Saturday.

Thanks to Snappy’s Convenience Stores for sponsoring the youth activities in center court. That’s why nearly all are free!

For the 20th anniversary the festival added an “inner arch” of artisans. This allows an additional 14 local artisans to participate, many of them for the first time! They are also bringing back the Artists In Action, where you can see three different artists each day – at work, creating their crafts. Watch for more information about who will be participating.

Stunning jewelry, hand tooled leather, metal sculpture, photos and paintings for your wall, lamps and brooms, pens and candles, soaps and pottery – it’s all here, all affordable, and all made in Pennsylvania, U.S.A. The festival entertainment sponsors are Fulton Bank and Alan Packer Concessions. Because of them, there is even more special entertainment at the festival this year!

New for this year are nightly big-name groups – four nightly shows with two sets and intermissions – which guests can fill by traveling between stages if they want. They include Bill Haley’s Comets, David Zentner & Country Tradition, The Badlees, and Brad Crum, an amazing Elvis impersonator. In addition, there are 28 additional entertainers – rock, bluegrass, country, acoustic, jazz, barbershop, R&B, and big band – plus

performances by young local musicians and dancers. Other new performances this year include The Lockport Drifters, Summer Rock Camp, Guitarman Rock School, and the Rampart St. Ramblers. (Guys, the belly dancers are back!)

Come to the festival hungry. Where else can each member of your group get their favorites and reunite at the dining tents for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and refreshing snacks. Of course you’ll want a hot sausage sandwich, fries, and a sundae. You love that smoked roast beef and Prospector’s ribs. Try Snyder’s funnel cakes and pizza, and you can’t go wrong with fresh squeezed lemonade. A bit of wine from Sand Castle winery would go well with a salad, crabcake sandwich, or crepes.

You can take home flavors of Pennsylvania. Visit the specialty food tent where you can taste and buy local sweet and savory foods like jam, maple candy, dip mixes, hot pepper jelly, fruit shrubs, salsa, mustard, and chutneys. There are specially roasted coffee beans and Pennsylvania wines, too.

The media sponsors have a bunch of live broadcasts, balloons, and prizes for you. Make sure to say “hi” to your favorite radio and TV personalities at the media tent and sign up to win tickets to attractions, Curve games, and the grand prize – a big beautiful gas grill. Magnum Broadcasting’s radio stations – 105.9 QWiK ROCK – Lion Country’s Rock Station; 970 AM WBLF; Y106.9; and 1260 AM WPHB – and WJAC-TV are the broadcast media sponsors. Stott Publications created this guide, statecollege.com did the website, and Centre County Gazette provided promotional space.

The festival rents the property from the Friends of the Pennsylvania Military Museum, who also provides the for-fee parking. Free shuttle golf carts are available to assist visitors around the festival grounds. Admission is free.

People’s Choice Festival is open Thursday, July 12 through Saturday, July 14 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, July 15 from noon to 5 p.m. The festival is three miles east of State College on U.S. Business Route 322 (South Atherton Street) in the historic village of Boalsburg, birthplace of Memorial Day.

The Child-Friendly Arts FestPlenty of Children’s Events and Places to Play

One of the main missions of the Peoples Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts is to appeal to families – offering daily attractions for children, most of which are free, thanks to Youth Area Sponsor, Snappy’s Convenience Stores. Encircled by artisan booths, entertainment tents, and food vendors, the children’s activities are in the wide-open spaces in the center of the Pennsylvania Military Museum grounds. There is plenty of room to run and play, where parents can keep track of the kids with relative ease.

The kids love to jump and giggle and wear themselves out bouncing on JUMP THIS!, the big playground-style inflatables, there every day of the festival.

The State College High Thespians are back to provide face painting for the kids. Donations are welcome to aid their productions.

See and buy artworks made by local youngsters and get the kids involved in making their own creations at the youth artisan tent through Saturday.

Saturday is also Character Day at Peoples Choice Festival. Bring your camera and look out for the Pittsburgh Pierogy, Ike The Spike, QWiKie, Merf Dog, Zippy the Zebra and Steemer of the Altoona Curve, to name a few.

Then on Sunday, the State High Thespians will present Storytime Theatre for the youngsters.

The only two attractions that require a small fee are the Little Smilin’ Choo Choo and the pony rides, where the fee is donated to Ashburn’s Animals on a Mission.

Little Smilin’ Choo ChooThe festival is pleased to welcome back the

hit kiddie ride, the Little Smilin’ Choo Choo. In fact, people of all ages can ride The Little Smilin’ Choo Choo. Remember, “You’re Never Too Old to Ride the Train!” The trackless train

Ashburn’s Animals on a Mission is a non-profit organization that uses animal assisted activities to enhance the well-being of people of all ages, as well providing a safe haven for animals in need, both big and small. They’re also the folks who provided the pony rides as a fundraiser for their cause.Nittany Greyhounds

Nittany Greyhounds, located outside of State College in the heart of Pennsylvania, has been re-homing ex-racing dogs for 12 years. To date, they’ve found forever homes for more than 1,200 greyhounds. We are a 501(c)(3) organization and welcome volunteers who want to get involved in our activities, whether a Nittany Greyhound owner or not. State High Thespians have been the ‘face painters’ at People’s Choice for the past seven years. In that time, the Thespians have performed for audiences at both the

Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland and the International Thespian Society Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska, along with local arts festival and State Festival performances. Throughout the school year, State High Thespians perform a fall play and spring musical as well as the annual Silent Auction and Cabaret Show. This year we are proud to add a fun story theatre performance on Sunday afternoon. Dominion Science Center

Dominion Science Center has been at the People’s Choice Festival since 2001. Founder Ellen McHenry and her family provide a wide variety of hands-on science exhibits and activities to festival goers. All exhibits are hand-made and are often have an artistic flair, so they fit in especially well at an arts festival. The McHenrys originally lived in Boalsburg, but now live in Lemont (in a house with more storage space for science exhibits). Their goal is to find a permanent space for their science/nature center and be able to build a “green” (environmentally-friendly) facility that features both indoor exhibits and an outdoor area with a small petting zoo and a unique “architectural garden.” Visit dominionsciencecenter.org.

Of course, the whole family will enjoy the live entertainment, fantastic festival food, and the affordable artistry. Bring the kids, the grandkids, your dog, your friends – everyone can feel safe and uncrowded in the huge grassy festival site.

A Handful of OrganizersA Massive Volunteer Effort for a Huge Successful Festival

It’s hard to believe that just six committee members can generate the music, food, artists, marketing, and children’s activities that make up the 20th Anniversary Peoples Choice Festival. Something Old, Something New20th Anniversary Festival Becomes “Local Show” for ManyBy Sandie Biddle

Twenty years ago, I just happened to be chatting with my colleague, Carol Young, near the ad sales counter at the CDT, when an arty looking fellow with a little dog under his arm strolled purposefully though the front door – a man with a mission, I thought. Indeed.

It was George Marion, a local artist, who wanted to place an ad for a brand new arts festival, the People’s Choice Festival of Pennsylvania Arts & Crafts – to be held on a grassy lawn in Boalsburg.

It seemed that there were far more local artists than could possibly be accommodated at the State College festival. They wanted a venue to share their creations.

Cindy Rockey, who at the time had already organized a few such events, like the Nittany Valley Holiday Fest at Penn’s Cave, gave advise to an artisan friend, Naomi Gallagher, about starting up the new “people’s choice” festival.

They noted that one of those early holiday events was held on the PA Military Museum grounds and benefited the Friends of the Military Museum. The location had proven to be a fine one – and remains an exceptional venue to this day.

Cindy also recommended a few artists to Naomi, and the ball started rolling. Cindy signed up as an artist, to showcase her handmade stuffed animals, household decorations, and her specialty, Christmas items.

George, and his wife Nancy, energetic

local artisans, were up to the challenge of organizing the first event – and picked up the ball and ran with it. George placed an ad in the CDT and there was a write-up in the paper as well.

John Madison, who was new to the area in 1993, had been helping his wife, Georgia, sewing her handmade welder’s hats. “We were just getting into the hat-making business, John said, “and I saw the article in the paper. We went to George and Nancy’s house and took our hats with us.” The Madisons were accepted into the first show.

Cindy and John are now the co-directors of the People’s Choice Festival, both with the fest from the very beginning. They took over a few years ago when George and Nancy retired and moved south.

John and Georgia also own MADison’s HAT’R in downtown State College, selling popular hat styles, including their own Happy Valley helmet hats and hoodies in blue and white, complete with lions’ ears.

With all the work they do to present each festival, neither one exhibits at the show anymore. Their artistic labor of love has become the show itself.

“It’s funny, everyone thinks John and I are married,” Cindy said with a laugh. Not so. Cindy’s husband, Don, is very supportive, as is Georgia, of course.

“I think there were about 60 artists that first year,” John said. “They were all along the




military museum entrance road, with about four food vendors over by the monuments. We had one little stage. It was a hay wagon. Someone made us a yellow, red, and blue canvas backdrop and a little roof. That was it, a hay wagon.” The festival now has two huge entertainment tents that seat hundreds.

John and Chris Kepler, entertainment director, remember one particular year quite vividly. “One that stands out was I believe in 1995 when the storm blew the entertainment tent down at night and the fireman took the gear to the fire hall for safekeeping. We got things up and running in time to open the next morning,” Chris said.

“One tent was blown clear into the creek. It blew out all Georgia’s hats, but left our tent intact,” said John. “By the time I got there, the firemen had gathered up all our hats. We were saved, thanks to the Boalsburg Fire Department.”

Diana Stapleford, broadcast executive, now of Magnum Broadcasting, has been with the festival for 16 years as marketing

and sponsorship director. She’s responsible for publicity and for raising funds for the festival. People’s Choice runs on donations and sponsorships. “The more donations and sponsors we get, the more we can improve the show year after year. We appreciate this support more than you know,” Diana said. Some of her contributions include initiating Children’s Character Day, coordinating multiple live radio broadcasts, securing a television station sponsor, suggesting the specialty food tent, and one year, a cameo appearance by the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile.

Dan Yarnell has taken over the organization of the children’s events in Center Court – from the science museum to youth artisans, canine rescue services to pony rides, face painting to crafts workshops. It’s a haven for kids that families really appreciate.

One of Cindy’s not-so-fond memories happened when she was getting used to driving the golf cart around the grounds. She ran over a child’s food plate! The food was replaced, no harm done.

My (then) husband, Steve, and I booked the entertainment at People’s Choice for a few years. The festival is dear to my heart as well. I spent many happy hours sipping fresh lemonade, helping out at the media tent, writing and voicing the People’s Choice radio commercials, and marveling at how so few volunteers could create such a huge but homey event.

“At first, this was a ‘silly little arts festival’ that nobody thought would come to much of anything,” John said. “Thanks to George and Nancy, it’s become ‘the local show’ in my opinion. Many local folks come every year, every day. The people have really supported the People’s Choice Festival, and we appreciate it.”

Thanks to the Marions for their energy, enthusiasm, and perseverance. Sadly, Nancy passed away last year and George now lives in Florida. They’d be proud of their legacy, and, 20 shows later, how the ‘second generation’ of volunteers is taking it to the next level, while preserving the original goals – exclusively Pennsylvania vendors and entertainers, affordable crafts, and a wholesome family experience.

Do you know which dog is called the 40-mile-an-hour couch-potato? It’s the same dog that is one of the oldest breeds in the world and the most bred. But interestingly, most people have never even seen one up close. It’s the GREYHOUND – a sleek and slim example of poetry in motion. If you have never seen one run, you have missed a beautiful sight. If you look into the soft brown eyes of a retired racer, your heart will melt.

Greyhounds have been used for hunting and racing around the world for more than 100 years, although in recent years, many tracks have closed. Today, only seven states allow dog racing; however, thousands of these dogs are still born each year. A greyhound is retired if they don’t run fast enough, if they get injured, or if they get too old to win.

That’s where Nittany Greyhounds comes in. Each year, dozens of greyhounds are shipped from Florida to Pennsylvania for re-homing. Nittany Greyhounds has been in existence since 1997, and since then, we have placed more than 2,000 greys in loving homes.

There are many m i s c o n c e p t i o n s about greys. Some think that they need lots of room to run. No way. They take retirement seriously and are perfectly content to just be with you.

Others think that greyhounds are hyperactive. Again, retirement suits them and they will sleep, rest, or just hang out for about 23 hours a day. Some are more active

than others, of course, but in general, they are content to just be dutiful c o m p a n i o n s . If you have a fenced yard, that will be more than enough space for them to get out any excess energy.

Greyhounds are not mistreated at the track either. They are cared for like the athletes they are. When they are finished racing, they are retired into the arms of adoption groups all

over the country, to spend the rest of their lives just being calm. At one time, thousands of these dogs were euthanized or “rented” to l a b o r a t o r i e s , but now, more

are being released to groups like ours.If you are interested in seeing greyhounds

There are two dining tents nearby, where friends and families gather after making their favorite choices. There’s also the South Stage entertainment tent in between – dinner theatre alfresco!

Named for their favorite hangout on the west branch of the Susquehanna River, the

Lockport Drifters is a three-member acoustic string band that plays a variety of musical styles

from traditional bluegrass and old timey favorites to classic rock, country, folk, and gospel

standards. Best known for their strong vocals and harmony, relaxed performance style and reverence for fun, the group also adds unique arrangements and instrumentals to their traditionally spirited music. Members are Phil Reeder: bass, guitar, vocals; Dale Haines: guitar, vocals; and Phil Ponish: dobro, vocals. The Lockport Drifters make their homes in Clinton and Center counties and can be heard locally at various venues in Lock Haven, and at the Howard Fire Hall’s traditional Sunday music jams. Al Miller, now “semi”- retired guitar teacher of State College for about 25+ years is the brains/instructor behind this operation! He started Rock School as an extension of his private teaching business about six years

ago with the desire of kids and “big” kids dreaming of playing with a real band. Thanks to Al, rock schoolers finish a project – to perform a whole song or two with confidence and pride. Al is still doing what he can along with assistance from former students and musician friends – to name a few – Mike Mitchell, Chad Caprio, and Brad Lunsford. His wife, Chrissy, took on some administrative duties and coaching for vocals and stage presence. There’s an age range from 10 years old to 70, diverse music like pop/rock, country, heavy metal, blues, alternative, originals, and beyond. The couple runs a rock school/vocal workshop fall/spring and summer and is gaining new venues to showcase them – like Peoples Choice!

RAMPART STREET RAMBLERS – South Stage, 1 p.m.

The Rampart Street Ramblers, formerly Canal St. Hot 6, takes its name from the legendary street in old New Orleans where jazz music originated, flourished, and carries on its grand glory today. The group presents traditional New Orleans-style Dixieland jazz music. Founded some years ago by well-known jazz clarinet and saxophone stylist Dave Wilson, the Rampart Street Ramblers comprise the very best – a top-notch all-star group of “traditional” music players from Central PA and beyond. STATE COLLEGE SENIOR CITIZENS BAND – North Stage, 2:30 p.m.

Twelve instrumentalists plus female and male vocalists make up the State College Senior Citizens Band. The experienced musicians in the band relive their younger days by playing “Big Band” tunes of the ’30s, ’40s and ’50s - plus a few polkas for variety. The band has performed at Peoples Choice for a number of years – along with gigs at Grange Fair, the Tyrone Reservoir Concerts, the Huntingdon County Fair, and other local summer venues.

JAY SMAR COAL & FOLK MUSIC – South Stage, 2:30 p.m.

In the last five years, Jay Smar has toured Scotland twice, received recognition from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives,

performed twice at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, recorded music from the Welsh BBC movie The Welsh in America, and was selected by the Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour to be on their professional roster. Armed with two guitars,

baritone vocals, claw-hammer banjo, plus fiddling, singing, and flat-footin’ (a form of clog dancing) he offers an acoustical buffet of American music. His songs include old time mountain music, bluegrass, gospel, and coal-mining songs of Northeast Pennsylvania. He’s performed a number of times at the festival and is pleased to be back this year.

THE CLIFF TURNER BAND R&B SOUL REVIEW – North Stage, 4 p.m.

The Cliff Turner Band R&B Soul Review is anchored by the band’s namesake, Cliff Turner. This seven-piece band enjoys playing classic R&B, soul, funk, and the occasional classic rock song from the greatest artists

of all time. If you’re looking for a chance to get up and dance or just listen to great music performed by musicians who

strive to do justice to some of the best songs ever written – the Cliff Turner Band delivers. CHIZ RIDER – North Stage, 6 p.m. Chiz began his trumpet ministry when he

was seven years old, with a concert debut at his church. By then he had been playing the trumpet for three years, having discovered his father’s high school instrument in a closet when he was four. National touring began in his last years in high school. His first recording at age 15, was a custom CD titled, Chiz, soon followed by Colors in Brass, his debut on the Myrrh label, Chiz Rider, followed by Sold on Salvation, To The One I Praise, and A Big Band Christmas. He collaborated with instrumentalists on Power Praise and Gentle Worship and has his own CD, Live Worship.

Friday, July 13HERITAGE BRASS – North Stage, 11:30 a.m.

For three decades the Keystone Society of Swing has brought the big band sounds of yesteryear to central Pennsylvania. Based in State College, they have played at festivals, concert series, and various venues in Centre County and surrounding areas. The group consists of a classic 17-piece big band instrumentation and a featured vocalist. Their repertoire is rooted in the big band era of the 1930s and ’40s but extends into the evolving big band sounds over the subsequent decades.


BLACK COFFEE – South Stage, 11:30 a.m.Black Coffee is a soul, blues, and funk band

based out of central Pennsylvania. Fronted by singer Caitlin Cuneo, the band creates an energized show, spanning from slow blues/jazz numbers to all-out funk grooves. The rhythm section supports Miss Cuneo with their subtle hooks, pulsating rhythms and tasteful solos – and the band’s passion for performing live is evident from their dynamic performances. www.nocreamorsugar.net

SUMMER ROCK CAMP WITH MATT PRICE & JEFF GIBLE – North Stage, 1 p.m.

Jeff Gibble and Matt Price started Rock Camp in the summer of 2010 when they saw a need for their private students to expand into a group-playing environment. The original goal was to do three one-week classes during the summer; however, due to popularity, a fourth class was added. After the success of these initial summer rock camps, they started planning two winter rock camps that were held during the 2010 winter holiday break. In the summer of 2011, they expanded the camp to every week of summer vacation and offered a variety of levels from beginner to advanced. In the winter of 2010, Jeff and Matt moved the concert to the big stage at Cafe 210 West in State College. Beginning in summer 2012, multi-option, multi-level rock camps are being offered.

JR & SHARON BAND – South Stage, 1 p.m.Sharon joined J.R. to become “J.R. and

Sharon” in the summer of 1994 and has been singing with J.R. ever since as a popular acoustic duo. The “J.R. and Sharon

Band” came into existence in the spring of 1996 when J.R. Mangan and Sharon (Clendenning) Bove added additional band members, who have changed over the years. At People’s Choice Festival, they will be accompanied by Bill Wilgus (guitar and mandolin) and Eric Bishop (guitar and accordian).

PUFFER FISH – South Stage, 2:30 p.m.

Puffer Fish is an indie rock/ indie pop/ power pop band

with influences from the British Invasion, underground rock, punk rock, alternative rock, art school stuff, and college radio station-type music. They mainly play in the Harrisburg area, but have been to Williamsport, Allentown, and plan to go to Baltimore and Philly. Their influences are The Beatles, The Yard Birds, old David Bowie, The Clash, The Kinks, The Talking Heads, R.E.M., Echo and the Bunnymen, and more. Matt and Stu play guitar and sings, Larry plays bass and sings, with Steve on the drums. Expect to hear a mix of original music and jangly pop favorites from the past.

NITTANY KNIGHTS BARBERSHOP CHORUS – North Stage, 2:30 p.m.

The Nittany Knights Barbershop Chorus, was chartered in 1964 in State College as one of the 700 chapters at that time of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Singing in America (now the Barbershop Harmony Society). It is a widely recognized, ever-growing, singing fraternity of men drawn together by their love of the four-part, a cappella, close-harmony style of music known as barbershop. The Nittany Knights has a membership of approximately 40 voices. Its members come from State College, Bellefonte, Boalsburg, Logantown, Dubois, and Lewistown. The Badlees are a four-piece rock band that’s been creating and performing music since 1990. Pete Palladino (vocals, Bret Alexander (guitar), Paul Smith (bass), and Ron Simasek (drums) joined forces decades ago upon encountering each other time and time again on the road.

The Badlees are very different from one another, each bringing his own unique personality and musical influences to the band. However, these differences are what makes them work so well together – surviving the ups and downs of the ever-changing music industry. They’re truly a band that’s more than the sum of its parts.

In 1990, they entered their third decade of creating their unique sound. The Badlees continued to focus on what made them special, without regard to what was hot at the time.

David Zentner hails from State College. His love of country music started in his boyhood when he first heard the likes of George Strait, Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Hank Williams (Sr & Jr), Ernest Tubb, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, and Ray Price, to name a few. Little did he realize that one day he would be a member of Loretta Lynn’s band and play with Ernest Tubb’s legendary band on the stage of the Grand ‘Ole Opry!

David has traveled extensively as a band member with country music legends Loretta Lynn and Johnny Paycheck, playing bass and acoustic guitar. He has backed some of the biggest names in country music on the Grand ‘Ole Opry as well as radio programs.

In 2008, he showcased his own special “traditional style” of country music, recording his debut CD, “My Kind of Country.” This CD features all styles of t r a d i t i o n a l country music from good ‘ole tear jerkin’ songs to mellow Texas swing sounds made famous by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys – another of David’s boyhood heroes.

Saturday night, it’s Bill Haley’s Comets, of “Rock Around The Clock” fame with Band Leader, Al Rappa, The Original Walking Bass Man. Al has been a member of the band since 1956, and can be seen in films and heard on record albums with Bill Haley.

Audiences go wild over Al’s musical antics

as he sings and plays right to the crowd. In a typical show, spectators are on their feet, singing, dancing, and chasing after the band leader.

Al sang and played bass, organ, and trumpet with many notable Philadelphia bands before joining the Comets. He also appeared as a one-man show.

Bill Haley called on Al to play bass on an instrumental album for Decca in 1956. Two

cuts, “Joey’s Song” and “Skokiaan,” became hits, and Al began his long association with Bill Haley’s Comets.

In Europe, the band shared the stage with the fledgling Beatles. During the 1960s and ’70s, Al played on Bill Haley albums recorded on the Decca, Warner Bros., Apt, Nicetown and Music City labels.

In the ’80s, Al gained legal rights to the name “Bill Haley’s Comets” and continued touring the world. Brad Crum is an experienced performer with over 36 years as a band leader and musician and ten years as an Elvis impersonator. Raised in Halifax, Pennsylvania, he played drums at the age of 12 starting in the family band and formed his own band by the age of 16.

Elvis was a major influence throughout his musical career and he never imagined that one day he would impersonate The King of Rock n Roll. It all started when his wife asked him to pretend to be “Elvis” at her gift shop for a special event. After seeing the ladies reactions, he realized there was a market for Elvis even though Elvis was long gone.

Brad purchased his first Elvis jumpsuit in 2000 and today owns six jumpsuits and several other styles of suits worn in his tribute shows. Although Brad is a machinist by trade, he started performing his shows on a full-time basis in 2004. Now performing over 150 Vegas style shows a year, he is also requested for gospel concerts.
