The i5 in China program, which stands for "Immersion Into International Interdisciplinary Innovation", is built around a proven program for technology ventures. It is designed to help start-‐up entrepreneurs as well as innovation leaders within larger corporations to develop a viable, grounded business model and communicate a concise and compelling business story tailored for its key stakeholders. You should sponsor a project! Here’s why… Your involvement in the i5 program will leverage your resources and add outside expertise to evaluate and prepare the launch of your technology business concepts. Using a team of professional consultants and faculty serving as coaches along with students from the highly ranked schools of business, law, and engineering at Baylor University and students from top tier Chinese schools such as USST and Chinese University of Hong Kong, your efforts are multiplied and your team receives innovation process training that has been field-‐tested on your own project. Amazing return on investment! “The team did a great job in their competitive analysis including price points which helped us set internal pricing models for both retail and wholesale sales channels. The unique aspect of the program is comprised not only of the DIRECT work you receive from the students, but the INDIRECT benefits you receive by participation in the program and the resulting exposure. The in-‐country insight provided by the team combined with their analysis is a valuable tool for deciding how to allocate capital in the "go to market" stage and their findings helped save us tens of thousands of dollars targeting a market that was not ideal for our product. Our biggest benefit however, came from the exposure of participating in the project as we met a new potential distribution partner during the process that we would not have had access to otherwise. Combine this with the opportunity to "test drive" a team of students who can easily transition into in-‐house project managers and we were immensely pleased with the results.”

“We found the i5 program to be both innovative and practical. By putting students in front of China based assignments, the participants get real world experience and companies get help with a pressing issue. In our case, we were grateful for the efforts of a team that worked on two of our new products: Pivot3 and 3VR. At that time, Chinney was in the process of bringing these products to market and needed help in formulating a comprehensive marketing strategy. We asked the team to help us identify all of our key market sectors and then suggest a cohesive plan to prioritize our approach. The Baylor team did a deep dive into the IT industry in China. They then presented a substantive report that both positioned our products within important market segments using a differentiated analysis and also proposed prioritization criteria for engaging these segments. The ideas were well packaged and intelligently elaborated. We were more than satisfied with the value delivered and would recommend the program without hesitation.” James Wong, Jr. Executive Director
Chinney Group, Hong Kong
