Main St. (Community State Bank basement), West Branch, IA Course Objectives Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: Identify and explain an ethical decision making process Apply an ethical decision making process to social work practice situations Analyze social work practice dilemmas and identify the key issues confronting the practitioner Consider and weigh the potential impact of each option on the client, social worker and others in the resolution of a social worker practice ethical dilemma Speakers Lora Rogerson, MSW, LMSW has been a social worker with Des Moines Public Schools for 11 years. In this role, Ms. Rogerson works with students, families and staff to access appropriate school and community resources. She works both individually and in groups with children K-12 th grade, focusing on social emotional skill development. Ms. Rogerson coordinates the grief team, responding to staff and student death across the district and the Teen Screen initiative, screening students for mental health risk factors. Areas of professional interest include PBIS, research and practice around disproportionality in child welfare, juvenile justice, education and health disparities. Monica Congdon, MSW, LISW graduated from the University of Iowa with her MSW in 2011. She has been a School Social Worker with Des Moines Public Schools for 2 years. Prior to her current employment, Ms. Congdon worked at the Drake University Counseling Center, providing individual therapy. Ms. Congdon’s previous work experience includes providing inpatient and outpatient individual/ family therapy for Orchard Place-Child Guidance Center.
