    Review of Recommendations:Standards-Based Promotion Steering Committee:The Steering Committee concluded that revamping of the policy would require significantincrease in allocation and resources. Given this fact and the current fiscal crisis we arefacing in our District, the Steering Committee strongly recommends that the Districtpostpone the restructuring of the Districts SBP policy.

    Review of Recommendations:Homework Committee:The major recommendations for the new homework bulletin are:1. Homework assignments should not comprise more than 20% of a students academicgrade. Each school community should decide what percentage meets the needs of theircommunities.2. Distinction made between routine daily homework and project/long term assignments.3. Maximum time allocations for homework per grade level.4. Schools may establish local school guidelines with input from all stakeholders.

    Review of Recommendations:

    A-G Task Force Committee:The minimum grade required for college acceptance is a C. For thegraduating classes of 2012 through 2015, students in LAUSD are able topass courses with a grade of D. The taskforce recommendedcontinuing using a D as a passing grade for all courses for the graduating class of2016with a phase-in beginning at middle school.

    There is very little room for students to make up for missing credits givenour existing graduation requirements and resources.

    Course credits offered during a typical four year high school experience = 240

    4 years of high school X 60 credits per year = 240 credits offered

    LAUSD requires 230 credits to graduate

    A student cannot lack more than 10 credits

    Recommendations

    Starting with the Class of 2016:A. Eliminate as graduation requirements courses not required bythe state, or to meet A-G:

    - Applied Technology- Non- A-G Electives

    B. Reduce the number of credits required to graduate from 230 to 170.

    Starting with the class of 2017:A. Course requirements same as class of 2016 with the elimination ofone additional course.

    - HealthB. Change the passing grade requirement from a D to a C.
