EMILY KING: SNOW DRIVEN

ABOUTCreation is a huge part of Emily’s life. The decision to major in art was an easy one, narrowing her focus

proved to be the difficult part. Emily has always loved capturing the human form no matter the medium.

Forms simplified and unique color palettes established themselves early in her aesthetics. Drawing and

color are the two most significant elements in Emily’s work. She has a unique way of scaling things down

to their most simple form yet in an incredibly descriptive way. Emily draws upon the human experience for

inspiration. Her wish as an artist is to be a force for good. Family is central to her, she uniquely captures

those moments of happiness that secure our bonds to one another and keep us moving forward.

Emily grew up in Salt Lake City, UT and received her BFA from The University of Utah in 2004 with an

emphasis in painting / drawing. Emily has lived in both Tulsa, Oklahoma and Malibu, California. She now

resides in Kaysville, Utah with her husband Joshua and small children Esmae(5) and Abram(2)

EXHIBITIn her latest series, Emily King focuses on Park City’s appeal to both its inhabitants and visitors - snow. Her simplified color forms cut from paper capture the many different winter scenes and sports of this

popular resort community.

KIMBALL ART CENTER

The Kimball Art Center is your nonprofit community art center. Starting with art lover Bill Kimball’s vision in 1976, members of the Park City community transformed the Kimball Brothers’ Garage into today’s Kimball Art Center. In this spirit of community involvement and excellent art, the Kimball continues to expand its educational outreach programs and bring top quality exhibitions from across the country to Park City.

The Kimball is free and open to the public year-round, furthering access to the visual arts for the commu-nity. While schools face increasing challenges in the area of art education, the Kimball stands as a bright spot for visual arts education. Our educational outreach packages and school tours preserve the value of visual arts education. The art center also offers classes for children and adults while giving members ac-cess to our ceramics, photography and painting studios.

The Kimball Art Center is the cultural hub of Park City. In addition to the Annual Park City Kimball Arts Festival and the Kimball Art Auction & Gala we host many special events throughout the year, so come out to the Kimball and let’s make some art!
