SHAC Meeting Minutes 19 September 11 Attendance: Ray Gavit Alicia Rivet Denise Kablaitis Sabrina Blok Michele Simcik Dena Ransom Agenda Alicia Rivet has taken over as the secretary of SHAC. Shannon Molina will be unable to continue with the SHAC. Discussion regarding the current abstinence curriculum used in HISD. Discussion about Austin Life Guard, being used as a supplement, and the presentations made to HISD students. The following statement will be released to Mary Tuma, (reporter for The Texas Independent), “We will continue to monitor Austin Life Guard. As of now, it will continue to be used as a supplement to our existing curriculum.” A decision to research abstinence plus curriculum was made. A letter will be sent to principal’s requesting help with parent involvement in SHAC. The committee is working on building a Facebook page to encourage more community and parent involvement. Future Meetings: Meetings have been changed to the 3 rd Monday of every odd month, excluding July. They will begin promptly at 6:00PM and convene by 8:00PM. The next meeting will be on Monday, November 21, 2001 from 6:00-8:00PM. Each member chose 1-2 goals from the Coordinated School Health Model Goals to discuss next meeting. Each member will bring Abstinence Plus Curriculum to research and review.

Agenda

Alicia Rivet has taken over as the secretary of SHAC. Shannon Molina will be

unable to continue with the SHAC.

Discussion regarding the current abstinence curriculum used in HISD. Discussion
