Leading the Way

At Lexmark Carpet Mills, Inc. located in Dalton, Georgia, we focus our manufacturingand service resources on providing high styled carpet to the hospitality industry.

You will see in the following pages that Lexmark Carpet has the most comprehensiverunning line product offered in the hospitality industry. In addition to our runningline products, Lexmark also has the ability to help develop and design custompatterns and colorations. We have launched a new interactive feature on our webpage called the Design Portfolio. This new tool allows for browsing our custom patterncollection and choosing the color placement online. We are very proud of our new manufacturing facility that has put corporateheadquarters, tufting, extrusion, and heat setting under one roof. The new largerfacility has allowed us to continue to add manufacturing equipment. The newequipment additions are 2 new extrusion lines, new heat setting equipment, a new1/12 gauge 4 E loop servo scroll graphic, and 1/10 gauge colortuft machine. Thenew equipment will allow us to offer better service and unique styling.

The partnership between Lexmark and Stacy Garcia continues to be successful andwe are developing more exciting additions to the line.

As the green movement continues to grow, we have positioned Lexmark Carpet tobecome a go to source for environmental friendly products. Our in house solutiondyed nylon yarn system is called Lextron Enviro-Green and it contains 10% pre-consumer recycled content. The Carpet & Rug Institute certifies, Lexmark’s products areGreen Label Plus. The products that we produce are suitable for LEED projects andpoints can be earned for using Lexmark products.

Headquartered in Dalton, Georgia, Lexmark Carpet Mills, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of carpets for the hospitality segment of the commercial market. Founded in 1993, Lexmark supplies carpeting to the hospitality market for use in public space and guestrooms.

Lexmark is a fully integrated manufacturer, with state-of-the-art equipment and unsurpassed customer service, enabling Lexmark to rapidly gain market share. We are the largest producer of guest room carpets.

Lexmark’s extrusion capacity supports a stocking program of over 70 colors and 10 barber polecolors. At any given time Lexmark has approximately 2 million pounds of yarn flowing through our system as finished yarn or in various stages of production.

Prive’ P.E.T

Lexmark is introducing a new fiber to the hospitality and residential market called Prive’ P.E.T. The Prive’ fiber is extruded in-house and is the perfect option for the customer searching for an economical alternative to nylon.

Lexmark’s Green Story

Lexmark Carpet Mills, Inc. is committed to providing an environmentally friendly product to the marketplace. From the nylon chip we use to produce our in-house yarn to the sample folders in our Customer’slibrary, we strive to produce a product that is environmentally friendly.

As we all know, the “Green” movement is, and will become, a major factor in the way our Customer selects product for projects. Lexmark has taken the steps so LEED points can be garnered using allLexmark products. The Carpet and Rug Institute has certified all carpets produced by Lexmark CarpetMills as Green Label Plus (Certification #GLP2380). The certification process ensures that at least 1 LEEDpoint can be earned when using Lexmark Carpet.

Lexshield®

To further separate ourselves from our competitors, Lextron Enviro-Green solution dyed nylon also contains a built-in antimicrobial called Lexshield. Lexshield is a built-in treatment, not a topical treatment, and will not wash out with normal cleaning procedures. Lexshield prohibits the growth of mold, bacteria,and fungus which promotes a healthy environment for hotel guests and hotel employees.

LEXTRON Solution Dyed Nylon

Lextron Enviro-Green solution dyed nylon is durable, cost effective and environmentally friendly. LexmarkEnviro-Green contains 10% pre-consumer content and the fiber can be recycled again after the carpetlife cycle is complete. The most popular Lextron Enviro-Green solution dyed nylon colors are extruded,twisted and heat-set in-house with rigid quality control procedures in place to monitor each step of theprocess. Our Neumag extrusion equipment is state-of-the-art technology and is designed to producetop quality solution dyed nylon. During the extrusion process, nylon 6 chip and color pigments arecombined in a computer controlled environment and heated into a liquid state. This colored liquid mix is then forced through apertures called spinnerets. It is then chilled with cold air into a solid fiber and wound onto cones. The extrusion process dyes the fiber from the inside out so the color is locked in for fade resistance and easier stain removal.

The hospitality carpet market is design driven and custom products are a large portion of Lexmark'ssales. Customization can be as simple as changing color placement or as complex as interpreting ahand sketched design into a carpet pattern. Lexmark understands that custom products are a very im-portant part of the business and we have committed ourselves to make the custom process as painlessas possible. Our turn around time to produce an in-house custom sample is 3-5 working days.

Lexmark recently launched a New design website www.lxdesigns.com. This technology allows the de-signer to choose patterns, change colors and view the carpet in a virtual room setting. This design sys-tem will allow our customers to simulate a PDF Cad and print it off their own computer for imitateaccess or download and email.

Cap Installation Instructions

1. Loose lay cap section onto field section. Shift cap as needed until both insert field and border patterns are aligned before trimming seams.

2. Caps will have to be top cut in order to assure precise cuts along the edge of the pattern.

3. Corridor section pattern may need recutting to achieve pattern match with cap.

4. Always check pile direction on cap and corridor sections.

5. Seal seam edges. Apply sealer at base of primary backing. (This is a must.)

6. As always, begin pattern matching in center of the seam. This divides the pattern elongation and makes for less work.

7. Irons for hot melt seaming should be set no higher than a 2 1/2 setting. Avoid using narrow tapes with high melt temperatures.

8. Run hot melt seam making minor adjustments with knee kicker. Run short lengths of seam if necessary. Allow to cool and readjust as needed.

CARPET INSTALLATIONWhat You Need To Know Before Installing Carpet

Lexmark’s running line patterns, and the Custom Patterns in the Design Portfolio, require more time and experience to install than other types of carpet. Make sure your installation company uses Professional Certified Installation crews who are knowledgeable and experienced in the proper installation process.

1. Pad recommendation is for a minimum of 8 pounds. A thickness not to exceed 7/16 inch.

2. All warranties apply only to carpet installed over manufacturer approved pad and installed according to current Carpet & Rug Institute installation procedures (Refer to CRI 104).

3. It is extremely fundamental to know that the pattern in these products are actually tufted into the carpet, not printed on.

4. Cut or trim these products from the face or nap side only. This will enable a better match and seam.

5. Dry fit seams to check for color and texture match. Due to the unique construction of these products the texture of color may vary at seams. If the color of texture does not match, move over 3 or 4 rows and trim the seam. This should reduce the natural appearance of the seams.

6. The layout of the carpet should prevent the flow of light directly across seams. Seams should run the direction of the main traffic. They should not run perpendicular to doorways.

7. All Colortec carpets, due to the manufacturing process, are subject to some pattern run off when pattern matching. We do not guarantee exact pattern match. All Colortec carpet is subject to industry tolerances for bow and skew of 1 1/2 percent.

8. As always, begin pattern matching in center of the drop. This divides the pattern elongation and makes for less work.

9. Seam Sealer is essential to prevent delamination and edge ravel (Refer to CRI 104).

10. Power stretch the material 1% to 1.5% in both the length and width. Maintain the pattern by use of the power stretcher.

11. Specifications are derived from averages resulting from normal manufacturingtolerances in yarn, fiber, temperature, and humidity, and may vary within normal industry tolerances. Performance is not affected by such variances. Variance may be up to seven percent, plus or minus. Quality control tests to accept or reject goods must be performed prior to cutting and installation.

12. We do not guarantee seamless installation.

13. No claims for out of tolerance material will be accepted after goods are cut or installed.

14. Pattern streaks and banding are visually apparent streaking in patterned carpet resulting from linear juxtaposition of pattern elements visible in both length and width direction. IT IS NOT A CARPET DEFECT, but is inherent in solution dyed graphic and cut/loop patterns. This characteristic may be objectionable in long corridors and other large areas but not visible in small rooms.

15. Corridor installation must be done using long length drops not short width drops. This will eliminate an excessive amount of seams, pattern match, and in some cases, shading of seams.

16. All CRI Installation procedures must be followed during installation. All warranties apply only to carpet properly installed over manufacturing approvedpad and installed according to current SRI Installation procedures. SEAM SEALER MUST BE USED. No delamination claims will be honored if these procedures are not followed (Refer to CRI 104-Standard for Installation of Commercial Textile Floor Covering Materials).

17. Remember, a Certified Master Installer will have experience and equipment to install these products to your expectations and job satisfaction. If you don’t have time to do it right, you surely don’t have time to do it over. ***Be Patient, Be Persistent, Be Professional***

produce a product that is environmentally friendly.

As we all know, the “Green” movement is and will become a

major factor in the way our Customer selects product for

projects. Lexmark has taken the steps so LEED points can be

garnered using all Lexmark products. The Carpet and Rug

Institute has certified all carpets produced by Lexmark Carpet

Mills, Inc. as Green Label Plus. This certification process

ensures that at least 1 LEED point can be earned when

using Lexmark carpet.

Lexmark produces our own Lextron Enviro-Green® Solution

Dyed Nylon in-house. The enviro-friendly yarn system uses

10% pre-consumer recycled content. After the carpets life

cycle is completed, the carpet fiber can be recycled again.
