This Week for the Redhawks:The Seattle University wom-en’s soccer team (8-3) remains at home for a their next three matches, beginning with a Fri-day, Sept. 30, contest versus fel-low Jesuit rival Gonzaga (5-4). Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m. Two days later, Boise State (4-6-1) will travel to Championship Field for a 1 p.m. match.

Last Time Out: The Redhawks extended their winning streak to four, behind their 1-0 shutout over San Fran-cisco on Sept. 23. head coach julie woodward15th season/seattle university ‘93 The dean of coaches at Seattle University, Julie Woodward has earned the respect of her peers with her style of coaching. During her 14 coaching seasons, she boasts 13 winning seasons, establishing her as the winningest coach in SU women’s soccer history with a 193-74-25 overall record and a .704 win-ning percentage. Seattle University’s former two-time NAIA All-American soccer player came home to her

alma mater as the head coach of the Redhawks women’s soc-cer program over a decade ago. She has coached the Redhawks to three NCAA Division II Tournament appearances (2004, 2006 and 2007). A 2004 Far West Coach of the Year, she boasts three NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division II honorees, 18 Far West Region selections, three GNAC Player’s of the Year, eight GNAC all-con-ference team honorees and 27 players who have earned NAIA All-America accolades. Her team’s have also boasted great academic success in her tenure, including a 2007 NCAA Woman of the Year, five CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine Academic All-Americans and 20 CoSIDA ESPN The Magazine All-District selections.

Honoring the 2006 Squad: At halftime of the Boise State match on Oct. 2, the SU wom-en’s soccer program will be recognizing the 2006 team that won the GNAC Confer-ence Championship and made it to the NCAA Division II Tour-nament.

Road Warriors: After playing their first 10 games on the road, SU earned their first win of the season at home versus USF, 1-0.

The Woodward Tally: Head coach Julie Woodward reached the 200-win mile-stone on Sept. 18, in SU’s 3-1 victory over San Diego State. She is the No. 5 winningest coach in SU history in a single sport and the winningest wom-en’s soccer coach in program history.

Lucky Number Four: The Redhawks currently are riding a four-game winning streak. They are coming off a 1-0 shutout over USF on Sept. 23. The shutout victory also marked SU’s fourth clean sheet of the season.

Defense: SU’s continues to be anchored by a strong backline and goal-keeper. The veteran group has been integral in SU’s eight wins this season and four shutouts.

Verdoia Continues to Lead Offense:

Freshman Stephanie Verdoia continues add to her already impressive playing resume. The newbie has not only start-ed and played in all 11 games this season, but leads the Red-hawk offensive efforts. She’s tallied four goals and two as-sists for 10 points.

The Captains: Senior goalkeeper Madison Goverde and senior defender Renee Vandermause will cap-tain the 2011 Redhawk squad.

Final Year of Independence:2011 will mark SU’s final sea-son playing as an NCAA DI In-dependent. On July 1, 2012 Seattle U will officially join the Western Athletic Conference as full members.

UNLV NIKE Invite Champs: The only team to go 2-0 at the UNLV NIKE Invitational, the Redhawks earned their first tournament title of the season. They defeated host-UNLV and San Diego State.

One For the Books!: SU’s 2-0 shutout victory over then-No. 8 Portland was the biggest win in Redhawk wom-en’s soccer program history. It also marked the highest win an SU team has earned since reclassifying back to Division I.

Scouting Gonzaga: Gonzaga travels to the Emerald City following their 3-0 shut-out win over Idaho on Sept. 23. The Bulldogs are 5-4 on the year and 2-2 when playing on the road.

Leading the Zag offense is Sar-ah Rhodes, with four assists and three goals for 10 points. Eight different GU players have seen the back of the net this season, as well.

Susan Brown has played all 830 minutes in goal and posts a 1.30 goals against average, 47 saves and four shutouts. She has allowed 12 goals against this season.

Scouting Boise State: The Broncos of Boise State (4-6-1) are riding a two-game un-defeated streak. They defeated USD in double overtime, 1-0, on Sept. 15, and took Utah State to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 25.

Shannon Schueren leads the BSU offense with three goals and two assists in nine games played. Kati Lucas follows with three goals and an assist.

Defensively, Liz Ruid has played in goal in all 11 games this season. In 993 minutes, she’s tallied a 1.27 goals against average, 50 saves and three shutouts. Ruid has also allowed 14 goals against. In addition to Ruid, Megan Blanchard has played in two games and is 0-1 on the year.

The Last Time Seattle U Faced Boise State:

In their last meeting on Sept. 12, 2010 the Redhawks fell 2-0 in Boise, Idaho. The Red-hawks are 2-1 versus BSU since reclassifying back to DI.
