The General Assembly will be back this fall for a Special Session to address the Congressional redis-tricting required after each census to maintain equal population in each district. The districts must be approved in time for the April primary for the November 2012 elections. Public hearings on redistricting are planned this summer.

But many in Annapolis expect legislators to discuss more than Congressional redistrict-ing. “Rumors continue to swirl about what else the governor and General Assembly may attempt to tackle,” said MSEA’s Sean Johnson, “including trans-portation, taxes, wind energy proposals, educa-tion funding, and the cost shift of teacher pension costs to locals.”
