Carolyn Brown
Carolyn Pistorius Brown is a native of the Blue Mound area and was born in the home of her grandparents, David and Emma Pistorius. This home is where Pete and Megan Pistorius and daughters now reside. Her parent’s were Cecil and Agnes Bean Pistorius and her siblings are Dorothy Seagle of Macon, and the late John William Pistorius.
Carolyn attended Nevada Grade School, in rural Blue Mound, and graduated from Blue Mound High School. The four students in Carolyn’s Nevada Grade School class also went through Blue Mound High School together.
After high school Carolyn was employed at the Macon County ASCS in Decatur for a short time. In January 1944 Carolyn began her 61 years of employment at The State Bank of Blue Mound. Of the 61 years of employment, 46 years were full time and 15 years were part time. Carolyn held many positions at the bank and saw many changes in banking. She began her banking career as a bookkeeper. In January 1967 she was appointed cashier and later vice president and assistant trust ffficer were added to her position. From July 1989 to December 1990 Carolyn was a bank teller. On January 1, 1991 she began working part time and retired October 2, 2006. Carolyn was also a director of the bank. During the 61 years with the bank, Carolyn worked for only three presidents— Cap McClure, Jack Towson and William McChristy.
Carolyn served as Blue Mound Fall Festival treasurer for five years and was a member of the steering committee for the Blue Mound Community Grocery Store.
Raised in Zion Methodist Church she continues to be an active member of Zion Chapel United Methodist Church and is a devoted member of the Zion Chapel senior choir. Two generations of Zion Chapel children were privileged to have Carolyn as their kindergarten Sunday school class teacher.

4
Carolyn has one son, Rob Brown, and two grandchildren, Megan and Paul. Carolyn enjoys reading and traveling.
In 1956 Carolyn and Robert Brown built a home in Blue Mound and though Carolyn loves Blue Mound she is a country girl at heart.
Congratulations Carolyn and thank you for being our Grand Marshal!
In Carolyn’s honor the Blue Mound Fall Festival has made a $500 donation to Dove, Inc., a multi-service agency, formed as a coalition of religious organizations in 1970 to provide human services in a variety of areas of need.
