OPEN FORUM WITH BOB RAE IN KELOWNA

Central Okanagan voters are getting the chance to share views with one of Canadas preeminent politicians as Bob Rae, MP for Toronto Centre and Liberal Foreign AffairsCritic, will be visiting Kelowna on Sunday, April 10. The event begins at noon.

He will join Kris Stewart and John Kidder, the candidates for KelownaLake Country andOkanaganCoquihalla respectively, for a forum on what this campaign is all about.

The Liberal Party is proud of the way we have led the country in the past, our commitments to a prosperous and innovative economy, to learning, to social justice, to theenvironment and to Canadas role in the world, Rae said. This election is about thefuture, the way we apply our knowledge that the world is becoming smaller and morecompetitive, as well as more complex.

Rae, also a former premier of Ontario, is a much decorated public servant. Stewart said sheis eagerly anticipating speaking with him about all manner of issues.

Having a man with such a breadth of knowledge here in Kelowna is a great opportunityfor me and to voters in our community, Stewart said. I encourage everyone to come tothis event and hear what the Liberal Party truly stands for in this election.

Kidder said having the Central Okanagans Liberal candidates together is a great way togenerate momentum for the May 2 general election.

We continue to hear from disillusioned voters about the state of Canadian governmentunder Stephen Harpers Conservatives, he said, and were continuing to gain steam in

this campaign, and its only going to get better as we near Election Day. Meeting Bob Rae,and having Kriss team together with ours, is going to be a fantastic boost as we pushahead.

The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments, and one of the loveliest views in theOkanagan, are complimentary. Hannas is located at 1352 Water St., overlooking LakeOkanagan and the Kelowna Yacht Club. The event begins at noon, and Mr. Rae will beavailable until 1:30 pm.

Rae was appointed to Her Majestys Privy Council for Canada in 1998, was appointed anOfficer of the Order of Canada in 2000, and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Ontario in 2004. Hes an author of four books, and has received honourary degrees andawards from universities, colleges and organizations from across Canada and abroad.
