2010/2011 REPORT
WELCOMEDuring this year Artsadmin’s projects included the chance to
Town Hall Artworks, a series of beautiful works installed in a five star hotel in East London, selected from an open commission. Giving a unique opportunity to emerging artists. As do our bursaries. Which we haven’t been able to fund for a while - this year with added disabled bursaries.
The staff and board of Artsadmin showed amazing commitment in the year and we were delighted to be included in Arts Council England’s National Portfolio.

TOWN HALLARTWORKSIn July 2010 we launched Town Hall Artworks, a project which has seen emerging local artists’ work installed in the heart of a brand new luxury hotel in East London. Commissioned by the hotel, we selected six artists from an open application process whose playful, evocative and occasionally provocative works are seamlessly integrated into the fabric of the hotel. The selected artists were Bálint Bolygó, Debbie Lawson, Peter Liversidge, Claire Morgan, Zoë Mendelson and walkwalkwalk.
Like Town Hall itself, each of these artworks combines the old and the new, embedded firmly within the history and culture of the East End while at the same time adding something exciting, innovative and absolutely contemporary to the building.Peng Loh, Town Hall Hotel & Apartments

INTERFERENCEA weeklong intensive programme, Interference combines the skills that both artists and activists have in order to change the world. Interference 2010 brought together young people new to either the arts or activism or both and gives them a chance to work with some of the most prolific and inspiring people working and campaigning in the area of climate justice today.
A GREENER BUILDINGIn March 2010, Toynbee Studios was audited by Green Tourism for London and achieved a Silver Award, reflecting the energy saving improvements made to our building as part of the 2004-2007 renovation, the work of our green team and the climate change related projects and activities that have taken place at Toynbee Studios to date.

SUMMER PROJECTWITH MARK STORORThis was the first year that Mark Storor, an artist acclaimed for his participatory projects, led our summer project and it was a great experience, for the XX participants as well as for us as an organisation. The project embedded itself firmly in the building, with installations taking over Studio 3, illustrations adorning the corridors and Artsadmin staff regularly invited in to watch the project progress. For the participants, the experience went even deeper.
My high points were the moments in which I proved my own self doubt wrong.Participant
I have a greater appreciation for the moments of authenticity and truth in performance as well as those precious moments that life can bring.Participant
EDUCATION &ARTISTS' DEVELOPMENTA NETWORKOF OPPORTUNITYADVICE & SUPPORTWe continue to offer a free artists’ advisory service, as well as telephone and email support, and group advisory sessions (like Talking Shop) which are well attended. The advisory service again supported over 300 individual artists during the year.
ASSOCIATE ARTISTSOur associate artist scheme allows us to offer support to artists and producers we aren’t working with directly. We were excited this year that You Me Bum Bum Train became new associates and Anna Ledgard became an associate producer (working with Mark Storor).
ARTSADMIN YOUTH BOARDArtsadmin’s Youth Board continue to provide a sounding board for Artsadmin’s education programme and develop their own art practice and projects through a peer-support network
