Star Walk Brightens Up for the Holiday Season With New SKY LIVE Window
A new window with new information and few more surprises to be discovered (try to find Santa
Claus in the Star Walk sky, it is there, it really exists!) are only some of the beautiful features of
Star Walk new version 3.4 (free update), now also selected by Apple as one of the best apps of
2009. If you like the sound of this try and play with our Star Walk Challenge, a new, free, easy to
use yet challenging game to augment your adventures in the Universe from the developers of Star
Walk.
Open Star Walk and the new SKY LIVE window will appear in front of you with data about sunrise
and sunset times, daylight hours and elevation. You can also see moon phases and read rise, set
time, and elevation data for the 4 main planets: Venus, Mercury, Saturn, and Jupiter so you will
never miss what is happening in the sky. By tapping the arrows you can see that information for the
following or past days. To check the SKY LIVE window simply tap the moon shaped new button in
the upper left hand corner of the screen.
You can become an expert star gazer reading up about more than 9,000 stars, looking at all the
planets, constellations, and messier objects. The smooth and stunning interface will help you locate
and admire them in all their beauty. You can zoom in on them, tap -i- for information and see where
they were in the past or will be in the future with the Time Machine.
If you have a 3GS enjoy the STAR SPOTTER FUNCTION. To activate the Digital Compass on Star
Walk tilt your phone and the area of the sky you are looking at in the sky will appear on the screen.

Star Walk – With a New Sky
The new Star Walk starts the new year with version 3.5 that features a new sky, new splash and
FAQ! The starry night sky in Star Walk is clearer and appears less crowded. Now the stars on the
background picture do not interfere with the real stars.
New splash evoked lots of discussions in our team. Some think that the bear looks fine, others say it
is a bit aggressive. We'd like to know your opinion. Check out our new splash and share your ideas
whether you like it or not on our Facebook page.
Due to our users' requests we added FAQ to make sure everybody is clear on how to use Star Walk
and what the symbols we use mean, e.g. the tan dashed line, the red lined circles, the squares with
symbols. Besides we added instructions on how to adjust the number of stars seen on the screen to
the number of stars seen with the naked eye, and how to switch on and off the push notifications of
the Astronomy Pictures of the day.

Star Walk Astronomy Guide App for iPad now Available
Alexandria, VA., -- April 3, 2010 -- Vito
Technology today announced its Star Walk
App for iPad is available on the App Store.
The astronomy app includes a comprehen-
sive interface, highly detailed info for each
object and gives users a beautiful, educa-
tional, and interactive star walk on their
iPad.
The Star Walk App for iPad has a complete,
revised information set about stars, constel-
lations, and messier objects. All options and
controls are now unified within one intuitive
menu and menu icons are explained with a
word or two so users know what each sym-
bol stands for. The time machine interface
has also been redesigned for iPad.

Cult of Mac
I recommend this app for anyone interested in learning more about objects in space and Earth’s rela-
tion to them. And the app is intuitive enough for kids to easily navigate. For $3, you get the universe
in your pocket. So get outside and see what you’ve been missing.
Star Walk was mentioned by Julius Genachowski, FCC Chairman, as his favorite iPhone app: "For the
record, the chairman's favorite iPhone app is Vito Technology’s Star Walk, a simple astronomy appli-
cation that harnesses the iPhone’s GPS capabilities to present an on-screen view of what stars and
constellations should be visible on a clear night from your current location."
I’ve been playing with Star Walk for a couple weeks now and it’s definitely become a favorite app to
use for stargazing as well as to show off some of my iPhone’s capabilities to friends and curious
strangers.
An observatory in your pocket. This is a great tool for anyone who is interested in knowing more
about the universe they live in. There's a moon phase calculator, a time machine function to show
you what the skies were like or will look like on any day. If you have an iPhone 3G, Star Walk uses
GPS to automatically determine where you are on Earth to adjust the view. First-generation iPhone
and iPod touch users can select their city from a list.
Blame our science geek roots, but Star Walk is one of the most awesome uses of the iPad's hardware
we've seen yet. Just hold the iPad to the sky or ground, and it will transport you to the inside of a star
map that identifies the constellations around you in realtime. Your iPad becomes a window to infor-
mation through an effect that's just so shamefully cool that you feel like you're 10 again as you learn
about space with real wonder. Star Walk is the sort of app that's a neat tech demo on the iPhone 3GS
but really shines on a larger screen.
I’m an astronomy newbie. I have a telescope and enjoy checking out the night sky, but when it comes
to knowing what I’m talking about… Heck, I know there are stars and galaxies, and, oh yeah, that’s
the moon over there… that’s about the extent of my knowledge. Thankfully, for people like me
there’s a new and very popular app in the App Store called ‘Star Walk’. The app works with the built-
in compass in the iPhone 3GS to provide you with up-to-the-second information. An amazing feature
called ‘Star Spotter’ delivers a live representation of what you’re seeing in the night sky above. Very
cool.
Star Walk is the best star-gazing application I have come across for the iPhone. Many of the features
found within the application cannot be found in any others! This is one of the best developed and
executed applications I have seen to hit the app store.
Star Walk brings Astronomy to the iPhone in a magnificent way. Whether you are into Astronomy for
leisure or profession, Star Walk is your ultimate companion iPhone application.
Worth the Money? - Without a doubt. It would be worth it if it were three times this much.
Awarded Most useful iPhone apps (GPS category).
Star Walk | In Press
Without doubt this is my favorite app of 2009 and Apple thinks so too as they have announced it as
one of their ‘Best Apps of 2009′ – it is fantastic. If you only buy one app – make sure it’s this one.
With Star Walk, you can go about discovering new objects in the sky without having to read a thick
science book or needing a telescope. Star Walk gives you information on 9000 stars, planets, and
constellations. Star Walk takes advantage of your iPhone’s digital compass to enable you to watch
the sky live on your iPhone screen.
We’ve seen more than a few star maps for the iPhone but none as dazzling as Star Walk, a gorgeous
interactive guide to the sky above that will appeal to astronomers and casual star-gazers alike. The
graphics are simply amazing and must be seen to be believed. The information is deep, covering our
solar system and light years beyond.
It has great graphics, the ability to go forward and back in time, and has an informative catalog of
deep sky objects.
This app was featured by Apple as one of the best apps of 2009 and I would highly recommend it to
anyone with even a passing interest in astronomy!
A lot of work obviously went into the project and it brilliantly communicates the love its creator has
for stargazing. The graphics and smooth performance provide an immersive experience that trans-
cends what one expects of an entry in the Education category. It’s great tool to have with you when
night finally falls.
Have you ever looked up at the night sky, seen a brighter-than-normal object and wondered, “hmm…
is that a planet? Which one?” Given the curiosity of my kids and wife, it’s great to have a personal
planetarium that can answer that, and much, much more. Vito Technology’s Star Walk takes a
“stellar” approach by making use of the iPhone 3Gs’s digital compass to create not only an elegant
interface that “universally” amazes every person I’ve shown, but also a useful real-time tool that
takes augmented reality to remarkable heights.
One of my favorite things to do on a clear sunny day is look up at the stars at night. It is amazing how
many stars and even planets you can see. It makes it even more fun if you have a booklet telling you
what stars and/or planets will be visible on specific nights.
Vito Technology has just released a major update to their astronomy program for iPhone, StarWalk.
If you enjoy astronomy, check out the specs on this new version, as you won’t be disappointed.
Unique astronomical observations can be made seasonally or by different timezones. Easy-to-learn
interface and search tool will draw your interest to astronomy. Feel the stars in your hands with Star
Walk.
Star Walk | Reviews by Distinguished Astronomers
After only a few minutes testing this app, I would say it is a must have for amateur astronomers. The
interface is easy to use and useful. The inclusion of a night mode is a serious plus for this software.
Overall, Star Walk reminds me of a mobile version of Stellarium, albeit with better graphics and user
interface.
Star Walk is labeled as an Educational App in the App Store, and while that is true, I would extend
that to say it is also ‘Edutainment’. Typically that label is used for something that is simultaneously
entertaining and educational. It seems fitting because while there is lots of straight factual infor-
mation that will help you understand the stars in the sky, there is enough flexibility and fun built in to
keep those interested in the stars but also curious about time and space and other parts of the world
busy for hours!.
My personal experience is that the application provides the detail needed while enjoying an evening
under the stars. ...With Star Walk, I find I am using it more and more often to give me deeper insights
into the night sky.
Star Walk application is very well done and is great for the average astronomy buff who would like to
know what constellations and stars they are looking at and who want to learn more about what's in
the sky above them.
“Star Walk is the most game-like of the star charting apps, with spectacular graphics, animation, and
even sound effects. If you want an astronomy app to just sit and play with, buy this one first. You
won't be disappointed.” Daniel V. Schroeder (Department of Physics, Weber State University)

Wow! by hamsammich - Version 4.0 - Mar 29, 2010
A completely unbelievable app! If you're looking for the best way to see what's in the night sky, this is the app for it! If you
have an iPhone 3Gs, the experience is even better!
terrific astronomy app by feeder goldfish - Version 4.0 - Mar 28, 2010
My favorite astronomy app so far. Beautiful looking and intuitive to use. Love the new enhancements. After choosing a star,
planet, etc... image is magnified and description appears next to it. Settings, controls, help, APOD, bookmarks, SkyLive are all
under one pull-down menu. Definitely worth it for those of us with a 3g, even more useful for those with a 3gs, which uses the
star spotter. Lucky ducks. Highly recommended!
virus.exe by Porkchop1414 - Version 3.3 - Nov 20, 2009
Just kidding. No viruses! But now that I have your attention, I want to say that this application rocks! It works fine on the iPod
Touch and it is accurate. So much information is in this application and as a person who has some knowledge of astronomy,
this application functions fine. Very well thought-out app!
For future updates, it would be awesome to add comets and satellites' orbits. I went back to look for Halley's Comet in the
1600s but couldn't find it. It would be a real nice implementation if I could look up the space station and see when and where it
would fly over. Just a suggestion. I would suggest this application even more than I do now to my friends and co-workers.
Way beyond cool! by twonucleons - Version 1.21 - Feb 15, 2009
This app is beautiful, amazing and educational all at the same time. On top of that, I now have plenty of chances to make wish-
es with the shooting stars! Try to get kids excited about stars in a big city like Hong Kong used to be next to impossible, as they
can hardly see any here. With this app, any city dweller can easily understand and appreciate what our ancestors saw in the
night sky. Just yesterday, a little kid here was able to point out the Milky Way with ease just from the knowing the name. This is
truely a great tool to spark anyone's interest in astronomy. Thank you very much for such a great app.
My favorite application! by Steve Simpkin - Version 1.1 - Jan 3, 2009
I read many reviews and watched many video demos looking for the best stargazing application for me. I finally chose Star
Walk and couldn't be happier. The UI is amazing. It is so easy and intuitive to use yet it still does everything I need. I live in an
area with clear dark nights and love looking at the night sky with our small telescope or just my eyes. Now no matter where I
am sky gazing I can find what I am looking for or identify what I am looking at with ease. I would have happily paid more for
this program (don't tell the developers ;-). Just a Fantastic application!
Unique and fun U.I. - Buy it. by JoeTooCool - Version 1.0 - Nov 8, 2008
This app is worth the price. I've used many planetarium programs, but this UI is unlike anything else. Don't compare this to a
full planetarium program. It's really just eye candy: rather than plotting the stars dynamically, the stars are part of one large
image that acts as a movable backdrop; the search function omits comets, galaxies, deep sky objects, etc. However, the planets
are mapped nicely, as are the constellation figures. Time-elapse is automated beautifully with a clever scroll bar: nudge it to
advance in years, months, days or hours. Overall, a fabulous user experience and worth the price.
Ahhhh by Rob in Key West - Version 1.0 - Nov 21, 2008
Finally figured out what those two bright stars are in the West! Venus and Jupiter! This is one of the best apps out there! Cutting edge graphics, outstanding overlays, and a universe of information. I would have bought the IPOD Touch just for this App??,! (well maybe). Anyway definitely worth the $4.99, would me nice to get more info on the objects like distance and type of star but I am not complaining!
