Join Alzheimer’s Community Care and the Alzheimer’s Alliance for the 2010 Alzheimer’s Educational Conference at the Palm Beach County Convention Center, West Palm Beach. Alzheimer’s disease affects more than one-half million Floridians, and 828,000 caregivers in Florida are currently caring for a person with a memory problem. Never has there been a greater need for educated caregivers.

The 2010 Alzheimer’s Educational Conference echoes the call to action from our nation’s capitol through the Alzheimer’s Study Group. Learn from a diverse group of experts as they discuss the latest research, legal considerations, long-term care issues, caregiver wellness, and current technology helpful to caregiving. Speaker information will be available online at www.alzcare.org by May 1st, 2010.

the conference of the YearThe Palm Beach County Convention Center offers a

comfortable, pleasant atmosphere for one of the largest Alzheimer’s conferences in the country. Accessible parking and easy exit from I -95 make it convenient for everyone to attend. Please keep in mind the facility is air-conditioned, so be sure to dress for your comfort level.

On-site respite care for the loved ones of family caregivers attending the conference is available at no charge. However, space is limited so pre-registration is required. Please add the name of the person needing respite care to this registration form in the space provided, and indicate what day(s) your loved one will attend. Due to space, we cannot guarantee on-site respite care for everyone.

Alzheimer's Community Care encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. Conference fees include all sessions, parking, conference materials, breakfast, breaks and lunch for both days. Professionals will receive up to 10 CEUs.

There is no reduction for partial attendance. Please confirm your registration as no substitutions will be made, and no refunds will be given. Registration will be processed only with payment attached (credit card or check made out to Alzheimer’s Community Care).

Certificates of Participation will be available to professionals attending the conference and Continuing Education Credits will be submitted to CE Broker.

dr. thoMas KodadeK - JunE 3Dr. Thomas Kodadek was born in Chicago, Illinois

in 1959. He received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Miami, his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Stanford University in 1985 and conducted post-doctoral training in Biochemistry with Professor Bruce Alberts at UCSF from 1985 -1987. He has served on the faculties of the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center

before assuming his present position in 2009 as Professor of Chemistry & Cancer Biology at the Scripps Research Institute, Scripps Florida. Professor Kodadek is a recipient of the NIH Director’s Pioneer Award and is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. His research focuses on biotechnology, chemistry and molecular biology.

Treasure Coast Hospice. Prior to joining Treasure Coast Hospice he was recognized as one of America’s eminent speakers and consultants to the healthcare industry. He has a reputation for offering practical insight into today’s critical issues of healthcare.

Dr. Benson has consulted with hospitals and other healthcare organizations and has been a featured presenter at numerous healthcare conferences. The Health & Sciences Satellite Television Network, The Long Term Care Satellite Television Network and The American Hospital Association featured his programs in telecasts nationwide.

Dr. Benson mixes high content with an interactive and entertaining presence. His talks are thoughtful, helpful, uplifting and humorous. Elder Law Attorneys in the nation certified by the National Elder Law Foundation, and is a member of the charter class of attorneys Board Certified in Elder Law by the Florida Bar. In addition, he holds an AV rating with Martindale-Hubble.

Nationally, Mr. Shalloway has served as President and is a Fellow for the National Academy of Elder

Law Attorneys (NAELA). He has testified before Congress on long-term care.At the state level, Mark is a past President of the Academy of Florida

Elder Law Attorneys and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Stetson College of Law, Elder Law Advisory Board. In addition, the late Governor Lawton Chiles and Governor Jeb Bush have appointed Mr. Shalloway to serve as the Attorney on the state’s Long-Term Care Ombudsman Council, Palm Beach District. He is proud to serve on the Board of Directors of Alzheimer’s Community Care, Inc.
