OAKS Online 3rd

Grade Spanish Reading Assessment Window

DISTRICT TEST COORDINATOR

– In 2010-11, ODE will offer a Grade 3 Spanish Reading Assessment through OAKS Online for students enrolled in grade 3. This is a native-language test which presents passages and items only in Spanish. This is not a Spanish-English side-by-side assessment.

– Approval by the U.S. Department of Education to use this assessment for accountability purposes is still pending. Until approval has been officially given by the U.S. Department of Education, districts must plan to also administer the Grade 3 Reading Assessment in English in order to count the student for accountability purposes. Once ODE receives approval, eligible ELL students may use the Grade 3 Spanish Reading Assessment for accountability purposes.

NOTE: Students may take the Grade 3 Spanish Reading Assessment for up to two of the three available OAKS Reading/Literature testing opportunities. Districts may only administer one opportunity per student between 10/13/10 and 01/03/11. If a district administers the Grade 3 Spanish Reading Assessment to a student for all three testing opportunities, the third opportunity will be invalidated.
