The JFK, INC. Parent Checklist is a tool that parents can use to physically inspect personnel records, policies, structures and grounds of a camp. Remember even if a camp is licensed/certified doesn't mean it is safe.

• Do all paid and volunteer staff have current criminal background checks on file? Ask to see them.

• Do all counselors have a current CPR and First Aid card copy on file?

• Is there a current State of Alaska Environmental Conservation food safety and sanitation permit on file? This includes kitchen, drinking and wastewater permits. Sewer needs to be 100 ft. from drinking,

bathing or swimming water.

• What date was the camp inspected by a Fire Dept. or Fire Marshall?

• Are campers required to fill out a medical record and immunization form to ensure campers do not have a contagious disease or illness?

• Do all staff and campers have a current TB test?

• In case of a emergency does the camp have a emergency medical form? This enables

camp staff to take your child to the hospital.

• We recommend the above questions are answered with a yes before considering the camp.

• Request references. Make sure to call the references. Ask friends and neighbors if their child has ever attended the camp.
