ARKANSAS AHPERD

NEWSLETTER Fall 2009

EDITOR: Andy Mooneyhan

President’s Message…

Fall is in the air and so is our annual

ArkAHPERD State Convention in Eureka

Springs! I am extremely excited and look

forward to seeing each and every one of you

and of course all the new members you will

be bringing with you! I challenge each of

you to bring at least two new members

with you to attend the convention.

As usual the ArkAHPERD Board has

prepared another fabulous program to

enhance your professional development.

The interaction with colleagues and students

is always one of the highlights of the

convention. This year we have the ever-

popular Silent Auction and BINGO but

also, Karaoke/Dance will be a new addition

to the convention! Prizes will be awarded,

so, everybody prepare to SING, be

entertained and have a lot of FUN!

Please mark your calendar and make plans

to join us at the Inn of the Ozarks, in Eureka

Springs on November 5 and 6!

Looking forward in seeing you,

Sincerely,

Lynn Glover-Stanley

Executive Director’s Message…

Greetings from the ArkAHPERD home

office. It has been a pleasure to serve you

over the last year as the new Executive

Director. It has given me a chance to

connect, at a different level, to the Arkansas

community. I have enjoyed working with the

Department of Education, as well as the

Governor’s Council on Fitness and the

Arkansas Game & Fish Commission as

partners in our various fields and supporters

of our upcoming Convention.

I have had the opportunity to meet and

work with both National and Southern

District AAHPERD leaders during the

summer and am excited to bring important

items of interest back to our State. Among

those items are changes to our constitution

that must go before the General Assemble

(YOU) for a vote.

We are entering an era of excitement in

terms of growth of the ArkAHPERD Organ-

ization. I encourage you to not only attend

our November 5-6 State Convention in

Eureka Springs, but also bring a colleague

with you. I ask that you complete both the

Membership Application on page 6 and the

Convention Pre-registration form on page 3,

and return them as soon as you can. I look

forward to seeing YOU in November!!!

Sincerely,

Andy Mooneyhan
