In many ways, 2008 was GreenBlues most signicant

growth: we doubled our staff size and epanded the

our work, including the launch of a major new initiativ

two largest projects continued to epand the Susta

Packaging Coalition grew its membership and develo

several new resources for the packaging industry whi

CleanGredients attracted new subscribers in the clea

products industry and we forged new partnerships

private sector leaders who are intensifying their comm

    m ssib idsi sysms.

While Im mindful that the economic downturn brings

uncertainty for the days to come, I hold a deep sense

optimism and hope that the year ahead will bring mo

success for GreenBlue and, even more importantly, t

    bd ssibiiy mvm.

Since GreenBlues founding, we have taught our priv

sector partners to embrace sustainability innovation i

to succeed long-term. The environmental crises of th

fty years have certainly persuaded many to pursue s

innovation, but the nancial crisis of the past few mo

may force them to do so. Many are uestioning the v

foundations of our economy, including our dependen

    dwindling resources and inefcient systems.

    dear friends,
