PREVENTION GUIDELINES

• Keep areas clean and free of obstructions and fire hazards.

• Implement a “clean desk policy” by removing loose paper from desk tops to files at the end of the work day which can reduce loss due to fire.

• Eliminate any obviously overloaded electrical circuits. Prohibit use of non business electrical appliances.

• Turn computers off at the end of the workday.• Inspect for fire safety, ensure compliance with fire

codes and regulations.• Install and regularly service smoke detectors and fire

extinguishers.• Establish system for warning all employees.• Put a process in place for alerting the fire dept. • Plan and practice how people will evacuate.
