Dear fellow Jaycees, Friends, Family and Distinguished Guests,

Welcome to our 45th Annual Installation of 2008 Officers Ceremony! It is agreat time-honored tradition that our Philippine New York Jaycees chapter hascontinued to hold. This evening’s festivities will commemorate the momentousoccasion of the formal Induction of the incoming 2008 Jaycees Officers of thisorganization.

As the outgoing Chapter President, it has been my honor and distinct privilegeto have proudly served you as this organization’s 44th Chapter President ofthe Philippine New York Junior Chamber (Jaycees), Inc. during the past year of2007. The year was definitely filled with many memorable occasions. With thechapter theme of 2007 as “Driven to Excellence”, which symbolizes the naturaldrive of our Jaycee members, I believe that our chapter achieved excellence inso many ways, not only within the Jaycees community, through the many Stateawards won by our members and by our chapter, but to the whole New YorkCity community-at-large, especially the Filipino-American community, asevidenced by the numerous successful projects and events that weresponsored by our Jaycees organization in the past year of 2007.

Now in its 45th year of existence, the incoming 2008 Team of Officers, led byPresident Victor De Leon, will look to continue the long, rich history andtradition of excellence that has been exemplified by the members of ourhistoric Jaycees chapter. Originally chartered in 1963, our Philippine New YorkJaycees organization immediately made history by becoming the first ethnic-based local Jaycees chapter in the world. Now that is history-making.

But before signing off, I would like to thank the entire 2007 Team of Officersand members for their hard work and dedication. And to everyone, Jayceesand friends of Jaycees, thank you for coming to our Ceremonies this evening. But most of all, I would like to thank everyone with deep gratitude forsupporting the Philippine New York Jaycees and the Jaycee movement! Greetings, fellow Jaycees; Family; Friends; and Distinguished Guests!

Welcome to the 45th Induction of Chapter Officers of The Philippine-New YorkJunior Chamber! It is with great honor and privilege that I am able to partake in thismomentous occasion with all of you.

Throughout 2008, we celebrate an organization that is renowned for its legacy ofexcellence over the last 45 years. More so, we gather this evening to recognize themen and women who have risen to the challenge of training the youth of today and, subsequently, shaping them into motivated individuals who will lead their respectivecommunities and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact on a more globalscale.

The officers of the 2008 Board of Directors, who will be inducted tonight, very likely, are people that are special and close to you, that you hold dear to your heart; wemay know them as a brother, sister, spouse, colleague, or friend. Yet they, also, areunique in that they have been inspired to serve, by those who have built andstrengthened the foundation of this organization. By taking on this mantle ofleadership, by applying the skills and information they have learned in moldingthemselves into leaders in their own right, they are helping to design a bettertomorrow for generations to come.

To all of you, our beloved guests, we appreciate you spending time with us, ThePhilippine-New York Junior Chamber, to celebrate an annual rite and long-standingtradition! Thank you for supporting the Chapter; we encourage you to continuedoing so by spreading the word, as well as joining us in our various events andactivities--The Philippine Independence Day Parade & Festival; membership-nightsocials; individual-development seminars; our 45th Anniversary Gala; and the INGNew York City Marathon(Water Station), to name just a few!

To you, my fellow officers: I am proud of all of you--dedicated, hard-workingteammates who, not only, share a common vision and purpose for the youngpeople of the world but, also, for the betterment of each other. When all of us worktogether, we can accomplish so much--THANK YOU!

MABUHAY, TEAM 2008 and The Philippine-New York Junior Chamber!!!

April 19, 2008

Dear Fellow Jaycees,

Greetings to everyone on behalf of the Chapter Senators, Ambassadors and Governors.Welcome to the 45th Installation of Officers of the Philippine New York Junior Chamber.

For many people in the community, the Jaycees represents a group of motivated young peoplewho have provided strong leadership in community projects. Through the years, we havecontributed to the development of other Jaycee chapters and as well as provide support in thecreation of a young professionals organization, we helped to improve the image of the FilipinoAmericans through our assistance in the annual Philippine Independence Day celebration, andwe have become leaders in various community organizations throughout the Tri-State area.Today, many of our Jaycee alumnus have spread their wings to include providing leadershipand assistance in nation building through programs such as Gawad Kalinga.

The Philippine New York Junior Chamber provides opportunities both locally and globally for theindividual persons to develop themselves. What other leadership organization can boost of aninternational presence and still provide the cohesiveness of a small organization? Since joiningthe organization in 1992 and witnessing the 30th Anniversary Celebration, I am always amazedat the enthusiasm, the drive, and camaraderie that Jaycee members possess. The Jaycees oftoday are no different. Though times have changed, few things remains the same since thatday that I joined in April 1992…it is the commitment, the desire, hopes and aspiration of ourmembers that provides each us the reason for being a part of this organization. Whether webecome members for one year or ten years or even sixteen years, we all can contribute to ourchapter’s success and our individual success.

This year as chair for our 45th Anniversary celebration slated in the Fall of 2008, I wish toextend an invitation to all Jaycee members, past and present, to come back and rekindlefriendships, share stories of your fondest Jaycee experiences and share the rich history that wehave to the newer members. Share with them the lessons of leadership, teamwork, goodplanning and appreciation of the efforts given – no matter how small.

To our 2008 Chapter officers, I wish you all well in your leadership journey this year. There willbe many challenges but it is how you overcome these challenges to reach your goal that makessuccess all that much sweeter.

To our current and newest members, you have the opportunity to define what you want to dothis year. Let your voice be heard and share your expertise. Seek to learn something new andpropose an idea that has never been done before. Make this year truly special by taking thetime to contribute and participate.

To our guests, thank you for your continued support of the chapter. It is through partnerships, collaborative efforts and support from our family and friends that allows us to keep motivated tomake our ideas a successful reality.

Mabuhay ang Philippine New York Junior Chamber. Mabuhay tayong lahat.
