• Based on 304 out of 381 who agreed to participate
• 67% female, 33% male
• 80% of respondents were either 20 or 21
• 61% of participants are members of other honors/business professional organizations; 80% of those belong to 2-5
• 55% are accounting/finance/banking majors
• 97% will graduate in Spring 2010 or after
Demographics
• Awareness of Beta Gamma Sigma before invitation to join is still relatively low at 28%
• Understanding of the Society increased between invitation and membership
• Lack of understanding is largely based on incomplete knowledge of the benefits offered to members
Basic Trends
Invitation to Beta Gamma Sigma
According to participants, 73% are significantly influenced by the manner in which they receive their invitations
• The largest percentages of participants accepted membership to BGS for the following reasons:– The honor and prestige (84%)– The recognition for their hard work (83%)– To put on their resumes (85%)
• When asked why students might refuse membership, students surveyed consider the following as the most valid: – Don’t realize the benefits of being a member (82%)– Don’t realize the honor associated with BGS (70%)
Acceptance of BGS Invitation
• Most students surveyed would like to see more formality in the invitation process as well as further encouragement from faculty and advisors
• Tapping also positively influenced students in their decision to join Beta Gamma Sigma
Manner of Invitation
• Participants received their invitation to BGS primarily through:– Traditional mail (48%)– Email (36%)– In class, ceremony/presentation (18%)– In class, given information (18%)
• For answers not provided by the information packet, participants most utilized the following:– The website (69%)– Professors/Advisors (33%) – It should be noted that the number of students who did not find
answers to their questions went down by 23% from the previous year’s survey.

Member Benefits
91% of students surveyed plan to use member benefits of the Society in the upcoming year
• 69% of participants were aware that as a member they would receive 1-yr. subscriptions to certain business magazines (i.e. BusinessWeek, Fortune, and The Week)
• 86% think these subscriptions add value to their membership
Business Publications
• The knowledge of Beta Gamma Sigma before invitation is low indicating a need for more campus presence.
• Members are greatly impacted by the manner of invitation as well as the induction ceremony.
• Members appreciate the recognition of the Society for their hard work and achievement.
• Overall, the BGS benefits are appreciated and add value to membership.
