9. Please provide feedback in the following areas regarding the examination.

# Response

1 How accurately did the exam reflect the knowledge expected of an entry level LAV? Too much emphysis on rare clinical cases or memorization.

2How fair would you rate the exam? I thought the exam was more fair than the 2006 exam. How accurately did the exam reflect the knowledge expected of an entry level LAV? I still think there were a lot of basic vet med questions compared to basic LAM questions

18. Do you have suggestions of how LABSG can assist in ACLAM Board Examination preparation?

# Response

1Expand tasks 3-10. Put more emphasis on the most common situtions that LAV deals in daily basis(animal diseases, prevention of common zoonoses, IACUC duties, etc). The Journal review questions will be very useful if it covers the background and discussion as well.

2 more quizzes, gear towards very basic vet med info

19. Do you have any additional feedback regarding the ACLAM Certifying Examination?

# Response

1

1-Proofs read the exam questions and eliminate the duplicates (2 duplicated questions in 2007 exams, even on the same exam page!). 2- Need less emphasis on rare diseases and conditions, it is impossible to cover all the materials. 3- Please do not make last minute changes and announcements, for example not including 2007 Journals, which was announced in May 2007. 4- Please assure that suggested books for exams are not out of print. 5-I thought the 2006 exam was fair and testing general knowledge of LAV but in 2007 the exam went one level down into more detail. Therefore, my preparation was not good enough for 2007. 6- Please update RECOMMENDED ACLAM BOARD PREPARATION MATERIALS. 7- Please have the experts in each area evaluate the questions, for example, an immunologist evaluate an immunology related question. This is especially important about Journal related questions. 8- Please do not make as to repeat the exam that we have already passed! 9- Is it possible to repeat only the tasks that we failed? 10-We need more feedback about our exam. Please state our performance in individual task or a numerical value for each one will be more helpful. Your current exam feedback is not very useful (stating need improvement by combining numerous tasks together).

2 I would like to see if ACLAM has changed the format of providing feedback to people that did not pass the exam

3

The difference between the 2006 and 2007 exam was significant in the apparent emphasis placed in various areas. It seemed to me that the journal articles were very important in the first exam and much less so in the second. It is difficult to utilize the value of having taken the exam once already with a moving target of the actual exam. Consistency of emphasis and style is important or the exercise is futile
