Message from the Chairman ofthe Board and the President

With support from all sectors of our community, AlliedArts reached new levels of success this year. The 2008annual campaign broke our previous record and raisedmore than $2.85 million for the arts in CentralOklahoma. As a result, for the first time in our 37-yearhistory, Allied Arts has allocated more than $2 millionto our member agencies for their operational needsand educational programming. Beyond the monetaryfigures, what does this mean for the arts and ourcommunity?

It means a culturally vibrant Oklahoma City whose artscalendar is filled with riveting theatre, musical anddance performances, enriching arts festivals and world-renowned visual art exhibits rivaling the offerings ofany thriving metropolis. It means reasonably pricedtickets, and often free admission, to thoseperformances, events and exhibitions ensuring thatthe arts are available and accessible for all. It alsomeans arts education for tens of thousands ofOklahoma students, particularly schoolchildren whoattend low-income, underserved schools lacking thefunds to incorporate art into daily curriculum.

Throughout prosperous times and in this more difficulteconomic climate, Allied Arts will remain at the forefrontin leading the effort to advance the arts for the benefitof all members of our community. We will focus ongrowing our annual campaign to even higher levels tomeet the expanding needs of our member agencies. We will work to build our endowments to levels thatwill eventually enable us to allocate 100% of campaignrevenues to our agencies. We will work with the artscommunity to ensure all Oklahoma schoolchildren haveaccess to arts education in their lives.

We thank the individuals, corporations, foundationsand organizations who joined us this year and lookforward to strengthening our partnerships in the yearsto come. Together, we are creating a more dynamic, exciting place to live through our support of the arts. Thank you!

The Impact of Member Agencies

Lyric Theatre’s reopening of the historic Plaza Theatre and concurrent revitalization of the Plaza District. OklahomaCity Museum of Art’s exclusive exhibition of Paris 1900. Ambassadors’ Concert Choir’s performance with Oklahomanative and Broadway musical director, Linda Twine. OVAC’s Julia Kirt being named the 2008 U.S. Emerging Arts Leader.

Our arts landscape has never been in better standing. Allied Arts’ 20 member agencies truly have played a vital partin redefining Central Oklahoma as a dynamic arts community. Together, they touch the lives of 1.7 million people fromall walks of life and from all parts of the state, region and world each year.

Perhaps more remarkable is their profound impact on the development of our youth. With shrinking school budgets,Allied Arts’ member agencies are taking the lead in ensuring our schoolchildren benefit from the arts in their lives. From City Arts Center’s teen mentoring program for students in public housing to Prairie Dance Theatre’s afterschooldance program, our agencies reach an astounding 228,670 children each year.

Your support of Allied Arts helps make this all possible. Thank you.

Engaging Our Young Leaders in the Arts

With a “Casino Royale” theme, the always debonair James Bond and his lovely cadre of Bond Girls set the mood onSaturday, May 17, 2008 for the 5th Annual Allied Artini Party. Held at the Waterford Marriott Hotel, more than 350guests sampled delectable martinis created by the city’s most popular restaurants and bars, bid on exquisite artworkby some of the city’s favorite artists and danced the night away to classic party tunes performed by Superfreak.

Artini ticket sales, event sponsorships and auction bidding enabled Allied Arts to raise $24,000 for Central Oklahoma’sarts and cultural community. Artini Co-Chairs Whitney Ingram and Paula Love and their dynamic committee,Chesapeake Energy Corporation as well as the other generous event and in-kind sponsors, participating restaurantsand bars, and featured artists helped make the 2008 Artini our most successful to date.

Artini is organized by Allied Arts Young Patrons, the emerging leadership division of Allied Arts Circle Club for those40 and younger. Single membership is $300 per year while couple membership is $500.

Partnership with AEP

On March 13, 2008, the Alliance of Emerging Professionals and Allied Arts Young Patrons group held a joint networkingevent at Individual Artists of Oklahoma (IAO) gallery, an Allied Arts member agency. Guests mixed and mingled anddiscussed partnership opportunities while viewing EdgeArtNow, a mixed media and installation exhibition. The eventprovided an opportunity for young professionals to learn more about the impact of the arts in our community, howthey can become engaged in the arts and explore the cultural offerings of Oklahoma City.
