“Speaking Our World into Being” The World Café in Renewal
• In your wonderful little essay, “The Power of Conversations that Matter,” Juanita, you reference Vicki Robin’s quote:
• “We talk to ourselves in our minds about our past, present and future. … We each than carry the meanings and possibilities we’ve created into other conversations … We speak our world into being.”

• Clock time somehow confines (imprisions) us to the present “as a tiny point.”
• Yet, the “spaciousness present” of human time is where we co-create, in conversation, many exciting “meanings,” as Vicki suggests.

A tiny moving dot
The Arrow of Time (Absolute Time)Both Aristotle & Newton believed in absolute time.
The Sphere of Human Time (Relative Time)
Einstein and Qunatum Mechanics have abandoned the idea of “absolute time.”
How do we find the “quanta of meanings” within the spacious time of our human
conversations? 3

“Speaking Our World into Being” Discovering the Richness of Possibilities
• It was not until 1929 that we understood, thanks to the work of Edwin Hubble, that the world is dynamic, and not static as Aristotle and Newton thought.
• And the work of the quantum physicists (i.e. Heisenberg’s Uncertainty Principle) show that things are not fixed, but life is rich in possibilities.
• How might the World Café support our efforts to master the art of co-creativity to bring new possibilities into life?

Exploring Human “Meaning” TimeAn additional challenge of the World Café?
• What “questions” and “values” might aid us in our reflective processes? (Present)
• How might we listen deeply to and connect with one another’s aspirations? (Future)
• How can we actively build upon our experiences, insights and skills? (Past)
• And together how can we co-create new possibilities and new meanings?
Thanks Juanita, Vicki & TWC Community

and with “courage” we act!
