Professional Development Outcomes
• Two graduate credits awarded by California University of Pennsylvania, applicable to Act 48

Program Improvements• Theme of urban academy is
“Differentiated Instruction”• Smaller, more focused opportunities for
participants to network with peers around educational issues
• Same concurrent sessions available for all participants to attend
• Opportunities for participants to share highlights of Teaching and Learning Improvement Plans
Program Improvements• Culminating activity: differentiate
a literacy or mathematics lesson; or write a response to an open-ended mathematical problem similar to what students must do on PSSA
• Team planning & reflection moved to end of the day
Team Mentors• Assigned to work with
each team• To assist designated
team(s) at ALL planning times and to answer questions about the Academy and its program
• To provide advice, guidance and direction as team(s) develop Teaching and Learning Improvement Plan(s)
