Since 1920, all you need for a great shaving experience.100 years Giesen & Forsthoff.

A few months ago we stumbled over our 50th anniversary publication from

1970. It was published just half a year after the moon landing and even before

major events like the Olympic Games in Munich 1972 and the football world cup

1974 in Germany. The publication brings back nice memories and is indeed a

historical document for our Solingen-based family business. Back then, led in

the 2nd generation, we were able to make our mark as a manufacturer of fine

shaving and manicure products. This success was always based on consistency,

quality and cohesion. Back then, I was accompanying my father and followed

him into management. Today, 50 years later, it is my daughter leading the Giesen

& Forsthoff together with myself into the future. Our credo now and then has

always been the combination of traditional designs with highest quality materials.

Even more important today - any of our handmade or hand selected products

needs to match strict rules regarding quality, feel and looks. Our traditional,

handmade straight razor is probably the best example for our passion, which also

secures our position in the niche of traditional wet shaving.

We are now happy to present to you our full catalog 2020/2021. As usual, you

can look forward to new combinations of stainless steel, selected woods and

precious horn. But we do not only offer new colours and variations. In addition to

our women‘s shaving line ZÓE, we also offer a full range for men under the label

1920, in homage to our 100th anniversary, a complete series that leaves nothing

to be desired. The Gentle Shaver is an interesting unisex shave product with

entry-level prices for your customers.

Do you already know our new shaving and beard care series? All G&F care

products are produced in the best organic quality and are 100% vegan. For us

as a medium-sized manufacturer, the topic of sustainability and environmental

protection is also more than important. Our products are not only popular in

the zero waste segment, but we also want to take the next steps ourselves, e.g.

regarding our packaging, and try to avoid plastic where possible. Almost 70% of

our packaging is already plastic-free. We are particularly happy that for the first

time in our history we can offer you an alternative to leather on manicure sets.

Discover with us 100% vegan cork material, which will surely convince you with

its look and feel.

By the way, there will be a special collector‘s edition of our handmade razor for

the anniversary. The handles are made from an old beer barrel, of course also 100

years old. We will inform you separately in the anniversary year.

G&F straight razors.Perfect tool for a classic shave.

Our handcrafted straight razors, made by our professional craftsmen in Solingen,

are not only professional tools for barbers, but also collector’s pieces. Available

in high-class carbon steel or easy-to-maintain stainless steel and various blade

shapes and sizes from 4/8 to 6/8 inch. The full hollow ground, hand-grinded

blades are enriched with traditional etchings and partly gold-plating and stand for

the highest quality and craftsmanship. Besides the different designs of blades,

we offer a variety of wooden-, celluloid- and handles made of Titanium and

Stainless-Steel. Design matching shaving items are also available.

All straight razors are full hollow ground and 100% made in Solingen/Germany.

Razors out of 2 different Shaving heads (closed comb and open comb) made in

zinc diecasting/chromium plated and a selection of the handle lengths (80 mm

The blade is easy and safe to use.

Open the blade‘s wrapping paper so that you have free access to the blade.

Now unscrew the shaving head, holding onto both short ends. Place the razor

blade on the top plate with the thread. Now place the shaving plate on it and

screw the razor shaving back onto the handle. Please always hold on both

short ends so that you do not come into contact with the sharp cutting edge.

Now you can start shaving. Ideally, you put the razor on the skin at an angle

of 30 degrees, so you get the best results and protect your skin.

The year Germany became soccer world champion for the first time. With Helmut Giesen, the second generation joined the company in 1954. After Paul Giesen‘s death in 1964, he will continue to run the business alone, with his mother Hanne as a partner. In 1977 the third generation followed with Peter Giesen.
