General InformationThe Talon® RTR 2726 is a turnkey, multi-
band recording and playback system thatallows the user to record and reproducehigh-bandwidth signals with a lightweight, portable and rugged package. The RTR 2726provides aggregate recording rates of up to2.4 GB/sec and is ideal for the user whorequires both portability and solid per-formance in a compact recording system.
The RTR 2726 is supplied in a small foot-print portable package measuring only16.9" W x 9.5" D x 13.4" H and weighingjust 30 pounds. With measurements similar toa small briefcase, this portable workstationincludes an Intel® CoreTM i7 processor ahigh-resolution 17" LCD monitor, and ahigh-performance SATA RAID controller.
At the heart of the RTR 2726 are PentekCobalt® Series Virtex-6 software radio boardsfeaturing A/D and D/A converters, DDCs(Digital Downconverters), DUCs (DigitalUpconverters), and complementary FPGAIP cores. This architecture allows the systemengineer to take full advantage of the latesttechnology in a turnkey system.
Optional GPS time and position stamp-ing allows the user to record this criticalsignal information.
SystemFlow SoftwareIncluded in this system is the Pentek
SystemFlow recording software. SystemFlowfeatures a Windows-based GUI (GraphicalUser Interface) that provides a simplemeans to configure and control the system.
Custom configurations can be stored asprofiles and later loaded when needed,
allowing the user to select preconfiguredsettings with a single click.
SystemFlow also includes signal view-ing and analysis tools, that allow the userto monitor the signal prior to, during, andafter a recording session. These tools includea virtual oscilloscope and a virtual spectrumanalyzer.
Built on a Windows 7 Professionalworkstation, the RTR 2726 allows the userto install post-processing and analysis toolsto operate on the recorded data. The RTR2726 records data to the native NTFS filesystem, providing immediate access to therecorded data.
Data can be off-loaded through two 1 GbEthernet ports, eight USB 2.0 ports or twoeSATA ports. Additionally, data can becopied to optical disk, using the 8X doublelayer DVD±R/RW drive.
Rugged & Flexible ArchitectureThe RTR 2726 is configured in a portable,
lightweight chassis with hot-swap SSDs,front panel USB ports and I/O connectionson the side panel. It is built on an extremelyrugged, 100% aluminum alloy unit, rein-forced with shock absorbing rubber cornersand an impact-resistant protective glass.Using shock- and vibration-resistant SSDs,the RTR 2726 is designed to reliably oper-ate as a portable field instrument.
The hot-swappable SSDs provide storagecapacities of up to 7.6 TB. Drives can beeasily removed or exchanged during orafter a mission to retrieve recorded data.Multiple RAID levels, including 0,1,5 and6, provide a choice for the required level ofredundancy. ➤

➤ ➤ ➤ ➤ ➤ SystemView Graphical User Interface
SystemFlow Signal ViewerThe SystemFlow Signal Viewer includes a virtual oscillo-
scope and spectrum analyzer for signal monitoring in boththe time and frequency domains. It is extremely useful forpreviewing live inputs prior to recording, and for monitoringsignals as they are being recorded to help ensure successfulrecording sessions. The viewer can also be used to inspectand analyze the recorded files after the recording is complete.
SystemFlow Hardware Configuration InterfaceThe RTR 2726’s Configure screens provide a simple and
intuitive means for setting up the system parameters. TheDDC configuration screen shown here, allows user entriesfor input source, center frequency, decimation, as well asgate and trigger information. All parameters contain limit-checking and integrated help to provide an easier-to-useout-of-the-box experience.
SystemFlow Recorder InterfaceThe RTR 2726 GUI provides the user with a control interface
for the recording system. It includes Configuration, Record,Playback and Status screens, each with intuitive controls andindicators. The user can easily move between screens to set con-figuration parameters, control and monitor a recording, playback a recorded signal and monitor board temperature andvoltage levels. The signal viewer, integrated into the recordingGUI, allows the user to monitor real-time signals or recordedsignals on disk.
Advanced signal analysis capabilities include automaticcalculators for signal amplitude and frequency, second andthird harmonic components, THD (total harmonic distortion)and SINAD (signal to noise and distortion). With time andfrequency zoom, panning modes and dual annotated cursorsto mark and measure points of interest, the SystemFlowSignal Viewer can often eliminate the need for a separateoscilloscope or spectrum analyzer in the field. ➤
