Collection ReservoirParts
Yellow-Capped Port• Attach vacuum source tubing (negative pressure)
Blue-Capped Ports (3)• Attach A&A line from sterile field to one• New blue port used when line/port clogged• Dead-end cap used ports
Luer Ports (2) seldom used• Provide access to collection contents • Do NOT add medication to salvaged blood
Override Cap• To disable pressure relief valve
Pressure Relief Valve (prevents cell destruction)• Automatically relieves pressure >200 mm Hg• Closes when lower pressure achieved

Collection ReservoirParts
Outlet Drain• Attach to red line of bowl & harness set• May attach step-down connector
Defoamer/Filter• Removes large particles collected (e.g. bone chips)
• 20–150 μm (differs with collection reservoir list number)

Anticoagulant Solution
Anticoagulant solutions – prevent clotting in disposable
§Heparin use§ Hospitals and OR§ Mix 30,000 units per liter of normal
saline (0.9% USP)§Citrate use
§ Blood banks§ Premixed solutions
Note: Haemonetics does not supply anticoagulant solution with disposable sets. Selection of anticoagulant is hospital / medical professional choice.
