The Scope of the Old Law
• Initially Delivered to Israel at Sinai (Exodus 34:27-28; Deuteronomy 5:1-3)
• The Old Testament Law eventually included more than what was delivered at Sinai (John 10:34; Psalm 82:6; 2 Kings 17:13; Daniel 9:10; Zechariah 7:12)
Despite the fact that the Law was given exclusively to Israel and nullified at the cross,
some still attempt to use it to justify instruments of music in worship today.

Instrumental Music and Old Testament
Sacrifices•Old Testament sacrifices and instruments of music in worship stand or fall
together.
•There is a direct connection between the
two in the Old Testament! (2 Chronicles 29:25-28)

Falling from Grace•The clearest example in the New
Testament of falling from grace relates to Christians binding Old Testament Law (Galatians 5:1-4)
•The Old Law was an unbearable yoke of bondage. Those under it had to keep all of it or be condemned (Acts 15:10; Galatians 3:10; James 2:10-11)
Any attempt to justify our works by the Old Law obligates us to keep the entire Law and results in falling from grace!!!

•Those who would go back to the Old Law to justify any practice have fallen from grace and are indebted to keep the Old Law in it’s entirety.
• If we are living under the New Covenant, any psalm, hymn or spiritual song is to be SUNG and not PLAYED, whether we are engaged in private or public worship! (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16; James 5:13)
