The city council meet-ing and workshop Tuesday, March 24 will take place as scheduled with the imple-mentation of social distanc-ing and a recommendation that the public watch from home.
The regular meeting is at 6 p.m. and the workshop is at 3 p.m., both in council chambers, 510 W. Ninth St.
Mayor Dale Ross has issued an executive local order in advance of the meeting and workshop to ensure the City can enforce social distancing standards for current COVID-19 con-cerns. It allows the City to limit the number of people in attendance to keep indi-viduals 6-feet apart.
The public is encour-
aged to send written pub-lic comment by email to [email protected] and to watch the livestream of the meeting at gtv.georgetown.org or on the Government channel 10.
Council members will discuss the approval of a parking garage study update and site selection discussed at their previ-ous meeting. The contract is with Wantman Group Inc. of Frisco, Texas in the amount of $157,200.
The council will also take action on a contract with the City of Round Rock for water resource and treat-ment services from 2020 to 2029 costing an estimated $197 million this year.
Action will be taken on a task order for the South Lake Water Treatment
Plant and 1178 Transmis-sion Main in the amount of $7.2 million as well as a task order for Parkside Wa-ter Supply, Hoover Pump Station Elevated Storage Tank and Tank demolition for more than $2 million.
Council members will discuss a possible munici-pal service agreement for a 20-acre tract of land on Highway 29 and will also talk about a resolution that would require a utility ser-vices availability letter for subdivision and site devel-opment plan applications.
A public hearing and pos-sible action will take place about the use of a portion of San Gabriel Park for the
expansion of an existing lift station.
The workshop will in-clude a presentation on building code, the Facilities Internal Services Fund and a potential mobility bond package committee. Coun-cil members will also hear discussion about the Com-munity Development Block Grant application process and the proposed City Cen-ter public spaces, public art and festival area.
Written citizen comment will be accepted up to 2:15 p.m. Tuesday for the work-shop and up to 5:45 p.m. Tuesday for the regular council meetings.

Southwestern closes campus through school year
Mr. Knobel said profes-sors will communicate to their students all infor-mation regarding grading policies and assignments as they engage in distance learning.
“The goal of the Universi-ty is to keep courses as simi-lar as possible to their orig-inal design. In many cases, faculty will have to make significant adjustments and everyone will have to try new ways of doing things,” he said.
All campus events are canceled and residence halls will close on March 22. About two-thirds of SU students live in its six resi-dence halls and four frater-nity houses.
The university will stag-
ger its move-out and check-out process for the remain-der of on-campus students until Sunday, March 29. The goal with this staggered timeline, Mr. Knobel said, is to minimize disruption during the distance learn-ing period which begins March 30. Students may reserve a time to check out through an online process.
Southwestern will main-tain critical operations such as facilities manage-ment, public safety, core administrative functions, IT support for online learn-ing and essential business operations.
Mr. Knobel said each de-partment has set up work schedules to encourage social distance while main-taining essential services.
