In 2 Peter 1 we find a most important lesson on growing in the Nature of our Father.

2

We are taught to addadd the qualities of our Lord's nature to ourselves in the Power of His Holy SpiritHis Holy Spirit.

We possesspossess these qualities, because He lives in us.

We must growgrow in them.

Faith, Virtue, Knowledge, Temperance, Patience, Godliness, Brotherly Kindness,

and Charity (Agape)

12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present Truth.

13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; 14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15 Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

"I will not be negligent."

4

NegligentNegligent = to be careless; to neglect; to make light of, or to fail to regard the value.

That's a good watchword or battle cry for Christian living:

"I will not be negligent."

Page 5: 2 Peter 1d

"I will not be negligent to put you always in always in remembranceremembrance of these things."

5

"I will be always very diligentdiligent and carefulcareful to remind youremind you of these things."

That is one of the chief responsibilitieschief responsibilities of a teacher, preacher, pastor, or apostle.

Some people think that they don't needthey don't need to hear the same principlessame principles taught over and over again.

6

"though ye knowknow them, and be establishedestablished in the present Truth."

Page 7: 2 Peter 1d

In the heatheat of a situation we are prone to forgetprone to forget to do what we knowwe know to do.

7

TruthTruth must be so drilled into usdrilled into us that we don't have to think about it;

We automatically respondrespond as God Wills.

Just as a soldier breaks down his weapon and puts it back together,

until he can do it in the dark,

We must be drilleddrilled in Christian living until it is automatically what we dowhat we do.

13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

8

Peter was going to doto do what God had calledcalled him to do as long as he lived on earth.

His job was to stir upstir up the saints by continually remindingreminding them of The Truth.

Page 9: 2 Peter 1d

We willwill get negligent about being faithful in godlinessfaithful in godliness,

if we are not stirred upstirred up by constant reminders.

14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me. 15 Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

10

We are all going to diedie.

Finish the pathpath God has laid out.

Page 11: 2 Peter 1d

A second thought on dying:

Don't have regretsregrets when your loved ones die.

11

You don't know when, nor how, nor where,

But your loved ones areare going to die.

What are you going to wishwish you had done after they're gone?

Page 12: 2 Peter 1d

Are you going to wish you had spent more more timetime with them?

12

Are you going to wish you had shownshown them how much you love them?

Are you going to wishwish you had been sweeter, kinder, gentler with them?

Death puts an endend to all you will wishwish you had done.
