SECTION A 1.0 POLICY STATEMENT
1.1 The logo, as depicted at the top of this policy, is the adopted brand for the City of Port Augusta. The use of this brand and logo is to be managed as outlined within this policy document.
2.0 PURPOSE
2.1 To ensure that clear guidelines are provided in relation to the use of the Brand and Logo.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY & REVIEW
3.1 Director – City & Cultural Services 3.2 To be reviewed within 12 months after a General Election, in line with any
legislative changes or by resolution of Council.

4.0 ELEMENTS OF BRAND AND LOGO 4.1 POSITIONING STATEMENT
This positioning statement outlines what only Port Augusta can offer. “With its strategic top-of-the gulf location only Port Augusta offers a healthy
waterfront lifestyle at the gateway to Australia’s iconic Outback, Flinders Ranges and booming mineral resources industry, making the city the top choice for lifestyle, tourism and business investment”.
4.2 TAGLINE
With its physical location at the top of Spencer Gulf, Port Augusta is uniquely qualified to use the word top.

The Port Augusta Logo depicts elements that are truly representative of Port Augusta, namely its spectacular landscape, strategic location and traditional role as a meeting place and crossroads.
a) the landscape is represented by broad terracotta horizon with blue gulf waters
and golden sunlight. b) The star represents the City at the top of Spencer Gulf c) The eight arrows of the star denotes crossroads or a meeting place d) The spokes radiate from a central hub to denote Port Augusta’s role as a major
economic centre. SECTION C 5.0 PROCEDURE 5.1 GUIDELINES FOR USE OF THE BRAND AND LOGO FOR COUNCIL PROGRAMS
5.1.1 The Logo will form the basis for branding all Council owned locations. Generally, this will be in the form of the following example:-
For Council use, the application of this branding will include but not be
limited to:- a) Letterheads and Envelopes b) Business Cards c) Advertising d) Clothing and other labels e) Banners and flags f) Signage g) Promotional material and brochures

5.2 GUIDELINES FOR USE BY THE GENERAL COMMUNITY
5.2.1 The brand may be used by any organisation, community group, business
group, service club, educational institution, sporting club or association or person that wishes to promote the City of Port Augusta. All applications to use the Brand and Logo must be made in writing to Council and must be addressed to the Chief Executive Officer. Authorisation for use of the Brand and Logo will be delegated to the Chief Executive Officer.
5.2.2 The “Brand Identity Guide” outlining how the brand is to be deployed is
attached as an addendum to this policy. This Guide must be strictly adhered to.
5.2.3 The Port Augusta City Council may exercise its right to withdraw
authorisation at any time if the user is deemed to not comply with the conditions outlined within the Brand Identity Guide.
5.2.4 No fee applies for the use of the Port Augusta City Brand and Logo. 5.2.5 The Port Augusta City Council retains all commercial rights to the use of the
Port Augusta City Brand and Logo. 5.2.6 No business, organisation, or individual shall use the Port Augusta City
Brand or Logo in any commercial manner for profit or fund raising without the prior consent of Council.
6.0 STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES
6.1 Chief Executive Officer delegated authority to approve the external use of the
Council’s Brand and Logo.
