Sing Hosanna

Performance NotesWritten as a gathering song for Palm Sunday, Sing Hosanna is a simple and effective way tobegin the day: festive and regal, yet plaintive.

The assembly’s part is easy to learn with little or no rehearsal. The cantor or choir could singthe refrain a few times, perhaps after being introduced by the trumpet or a flute playing themelody. The assembly will have no trouble joining in.

The trumpet obligato in this edition adds a note of majesty to the accompaniment. However, the piece is also effective accompanied simply by guitar.
