ACTIVITY Question to investigate:

Can you sort different objects into groups based on their observable properties?

Objects: Birthday candle, wax paper, copy paper, construction paper, plastic spoon, plastic ruler, popsicle stick, pencil, aluminum foil, paper clip, rubber band, eraser, crayon, and plastic bag material.

Procedure 1. Choose one property of the objects to group them. You can group the objects by

Shape, Flexibility, or Material.2. Write the name of each object in the box that best describes its property.3. When you are done, try grouping the items using another property.
