ContentsForewordThe Music Recital Book 1, Beethoven Bear and

Mozart Mouse and the Magical Music Book, includes

motivational music to reinforce performance concepts that are intro-

duced in the Music Lesson Book 1 . It also provides extra material for

students who move quickly in group lessons .

The pieces on the first 16 pages of the book are part of an all-new

story about Beethoven Bear, Mozart Mouse and the Magical Music

Book . Students will enjoy following the adventures of their music

friends through this imaginative story . This section of the book can be

used effectively in recital, with a narrator reading the story and

students performing the pieces in the appropriate places .

The pieces in this book are coordinated page by page with the

materials in the Music Lesson Book 1 . They should be assigned

according to the instructions in the upper right hand corner of each

page of this book . They should not be assigned sooner than these

references indicate, although they may be assigned as review material

at any time after the student has reached the designated page . This

book also can be used as a review book for students who have

completed Music Lesson 1 and need some additional reinforcement

before moving to Music Lesson Book 2 .

Pages 17–23 include challenge pieces for students . Some of these

pieces are longer than those found on the first 16 pages or require the

student to listen carefully to know when to enter as the teacher or

parent plays the duet . These challenge pieces are particularly moti-

vating since most are based on familiar folk tunes .

The authors and publisher of this course hope that

this book brings hours of fun and enjoyment for

students, parents and teachers .

Beethoven Bear and Mozart Mouse were so excited about finding the Magical Music Book that they could barely close their eyes that night to go to sleep .

“Oh, I do hope that the book is still there tomorrow,” whispered Beethoven Bear to his friend as they lay snugly tucked into their beds .

“Me, too!” agreed Mozart Mouse . “Let’s go to the Music Room right after breakfast .”

“That’s a great idea!” said Beethoven Bear as he tried not to yawn . “Learning about music and the piano is really fun, isn’t it?” he asked sleepily .

“Yes, indeed, my friend,” murmured Mozart Mouse slowly . He was beginning to feel very sleepy, too . “Yes, indeed .”

But Beethoven Bear didn’t hear his friend . He was already sound asleep, dreaming about the wonderful book they had discovered that day .

On the very next page, there was a picture of a beautiful ballerina on top of a music box . Suddenly, the ballerina stepped out of the book and joined the music friends .

“It worked!” cried Beethoven Bear .

“Won’t you play my song as I dance for you?” asked the ballerina .

“I’ll do it!” volunteered Beethoven Bear . “It only uses Middle C and D . It looks easy!”

As he began to play, the ballerina pointed her toes and danced all around the Music Room .

“It really worked!” Mozart Mouse thought to himself .
