TheturningcycleoftheseasonsbringsustospringintheNorthernHemisphereandautumnintheSouthern.HereinLondon,theearthgraduallyawakensfromthenourishingsleepofwinter,waitingforthefullblossomingofspringwhenthesecrettreasuresoftheunderworldarebroughttolight.Ourinnerliveshavehadanotheryearofexperiencesintheseunusualtimes,aswewatchheaven’sgreatlawsunfolding.Manyhavecommentedthatoverthepastyeartheever-presentTeachinghasbeenananchor,duringboththedarkhoursandthetimesofcreativity,andthe‘TalkingTree’hascontinuedtoguideandteachus.
Theopportunitytoconnectthroughonlinesessionsthispastyearhasbeenahugeprivilegeandthe‘silverlining’tothecloudoftheCovidpandemic.Whileithasbeenasteeplearningcurveformany,thesupportandteamworkofcompanionshasbeenwonderful,andmadeitallpossible.ThespiritofthisinvaluableTraditioncontinuesinallpartsoftheworld,thankstodearWarrenwhosepresenceisveryreal.

Thespring(alsoknownasvernal)equinoxfallsonSaturday20Marchthisyear(technicallyoccurringatapproximately09:37hrs,LondonTime)andmarksthefirstdayoftheseasonundertheastronomicaldefinition.Itcanfallanytimebetweenthe19thand21stofMarch,markingthebeginningofthespringseasonintheNorthernHemisphereandtheautumnseasonintheSouthernHemisphere.ThistransitioncanbeobservedintheplanetarymovementsthroughtheastrologicalbackdropofbirthsignswheretheSun,inthelastdegreeofPiscesat29degrees59minutes(below),approachesthesignofAries.InthewesterntropicalZodiac,Aries’seasonbeginsattheVernalEquinox,representingtheyearlyrebirthoftheSunintheNorthernHemisphereandtherenewalofgrowthatthebeginningofspring.Ariesrepresentsthearchetypalburstofyouthfulenthusiasmlikenedtothevitalforceoflifereawakeningafterthelongwinter.
Inancienttimes,theEquinoxwasbelievedtobeapointwheretheveilbetweenthisworldandthehigherrealmswasthin.Itwasatthispointintheyearwheretheybelievedtheycouldhearthewisdomoftheirancestors,naturespirits,andtheirspiritguides,guidingthemforwardorsignallingtothemwhatneedstobedone.TheenergiesoftheEquinoxwerealsosaidtobeamagicaltime,whereharmonyfellontheplanetandwhereonecouldembodyanequalbalanceofdarkandlight.Ascanbeseenintheyinandyangsymbol,oneisimpossiblewithouttheother:darknessisneededtoseethelight,andthelightisneededtorecognizethedarkness.
Uponreflection,whenthehoursoflightanddarkarethesame,theenergiesoftheEquinoxmaybefeltandexperiencedashonouringbothofthesequalitiesthatlivewithin–theshadowandtheDivinelight–acknowledgingthatworkingwiththisdualityisthejourneyofthesoulhereinourschoolofEarth.
