Solution OverviewUsing Adobe Typekit for Custom Brand Fonts

Customers with their own custom or proprietary brand fonts can add use Adobe Typekit to deliver them in their web content using the same proven technology that powers web fonts on more than 1 million web sites.

Custom Fonts are added to the Typekit library by the Typekit type team via our font import process. !is process uses a range of proprietary tools to validate the font data and to produce the range of web font "letypes necessary to enable the Typekit solution to work in the browser.

Once the fonts have been loaded into Typekit, they’ll appear in the library of any user who is authorized to access them. Only the users speci!cally authorized by our customer have access to their own custom brand fonts.

In this screen shot, a custom font user is viewing the library that contains only a single custom font family, called “[Customer Name] Apex”.

If we have processed multiple custom font families for the customer, each of them would appear as a separate font here.

On clicking on a tile that corresponds with a given family, the font family page loads, which shows all of the weight and style variations that are available in that particular family:

!e process of adding font families and variations to the Typekit library is performed by the Typekit type team. !e production of optimized web font "les is necessarily a manual one, and frequently requires the a#ention of a type designer or technologist in order to make minor enhancements or corrections.

Our experience has shown that it is not possible to reliably produce web font "les of an acceptable standard of quality via any automated or self-service process.

Using Adobe Typekit for Custom Brand FontsTypekit fonts are integrated into content using “kits.” A kit contains the speci"c combination of font weights and styles that are to be used on a given page or template.

Customers build and create their own kits using the self-service tools on Typekit.com. Once a kit has been con"gured, the customer can “publish” it to make it live, so that it can be loaded on any page that the kit has been con"gured for. A kit can contain any combination of custom fonts as well as any other fonts from the Typekit library. With Typekit, there is no per-font charge, and there is no limit on the number of fonts that can be used by a customer.

Once the kit has been created, our kit editor provides a line of Javascript code which, when inserted into the HEAD of your HTML page, causes the Typekit code to run and the web fonts to be delivered. !e code looks like this:

Where ID is replaced with the ID provided in the kit editor when the kit was created.

Once this code has been loaded on a page, the page content can style any HTML text using the speci"ed font family name, just as they would using any other web font or system font.

Typekit customers are the only users with the capability to create or publish their own kits, and when the content that contains the kit embed code is published. !is way, our customers are the only ones who control when changes to their kit con"guration can take place.

Adobe Typekit’s Content Protection for Custom Fonts!e Typekit solution implements a number of measures for content protection to ensure that the fonts cannot be downloaded and used outside the browser, and to ensure that custom web fonts are used only by authorized parties.

Enterprise Customer SupportAdobe Typekit Enterprise includes unlimited access to our Enterprise Support team.

1. Support by Telephone: Enterprise customers can reach an Enterprise Customer Support representative directly by phone from 9 AM to 9 PM Eastern time on regular business days .

2. Support by Email: Enterprise customers have access to a dedicated Enterprise Customer support email address, which receives priority a#ention from our enterprise support team.

Support is provided to all Typekit users - including vendors, partners, and agencies that represent our customers. We do not require users to be pre-authorized in order to receive support by email or phone.

Adobe Typekit Enterprise: PricingPricing for Adobe Typekit Enterprise starts at $750 per month, invoiced yearly at $9,000 per year.

Pageviews in excess of 50MM are priced at $.01 (one cent) per thousand pageviews per month: 100 Million PV/month = $1,000 per month.

!ere is an additional one-time account setup fee of $1500.

Additional one-time processing fees for custom fonts start at $1500 per font, depending on the work necessary to prepare the font for use on the web. We can provide a "rm quote for font processing once we’re able to evaluate the font.

Terms

In the minimum ($9,000/year con"guration), Typekit Enterprise is offered only via standard “shrink-wrap” license terms.

Negotiated T&Cs and bespoke SLA terms are available for transactions with a total contract value of more than $100k.
