Grand Canal
The Tigris River is the principle
drainage feature flowing north to
south and creates a natural
boundary to the east.
The Grand Canal splits the OE in
half and flows west to east
depositing into the Tigris River.
An extensive network of manmade
drainage/irrigation canals dissects
the OE.

SURFACE MATERIAL
Frequent irrigation and flooding
deposit large quantities of silty loam,
as well as, windborne silt that
contribute to the total deposit of
sediments.
Trafficability when wet is poor.
Trafficability when dry is good.Camp Taji

through the center of the AO from
MSR Tampa.
Camp Taji Airfield (38SMC
3095209610) is currently used as a
Helicopter base. The airfield is C130
capable.
Routes are generally all weather
loose roads with an average width of

Limited elevation and slope
throughout the agricultural areas
offers good ground and aerial
observation and FOF.
Drainage canals/irrigation ditches
and embankments will provide
limited concealment from direct
observation.
Date palm orchards will provide
good concealment from aerial
observation and limit FOF.
Residential and commercial
buildings averaging about 1-4 stories
in height and spaced about less than
4 meters apart will restrict direct
observation and FOF.

Linear Obstacle
Limited elevation and slope will not
be an obstacle to movement.
Due to numerous irrigation canals
and poor draining soils, mobile
operations are limited to
improve/unimproved roads.
