415401 Indoor Hoop JamStephanie O’KeeffeFor all ages. Hula hoops aren’t just kids’ toys anymore. Larger, heavi-er hoops let adult bodies spin up the fun – and the fi tness! Hooping burns calories, builds core strength, and can improve muscle tone, fl exibility and balance. Come play and dance with hula hoops in a casual, friendly drop-in environment. This is not a class; it’s an op-portunity to hoop with and learn from people of all skill levels – from fi rst-timers skeptical of keeping the hoop spinning, to more advanced hoopers eager to share their tips and spread the hoop joy. Hoops will be provided, or bring your own. Bringing water to drink is recom-mended. No special clothing requirements, but bulky clothes may be more challenging for beginners. Plan to bring clean shoes (or go with stocking feet or bare feet) on wet or snowy days Sun., Jan. 5-Mar. 9 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m., Middle School Exercise Room, 2nd fl oor, per-person drop-in fee is $3 daily.

Registration InformationRegistration InformationRegistration for most programs will begin on November 15. Offi ce hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Registration is accepted on a fi rst-come, fi rst-serve basis until the maximum number of persons per program is reached. Complete payment, including nonresident fees where applicable, must accompany each registration. If the program has fi lled, we will place your name on our waiting list. Your early registration helps us reach the minimum numbers required to run the class and also ensures your space in a popular class. We offer fi ve easy ways to register: on the internet at lsse.org, over the phone 413-259-3065, fax to 413-259-2407, walk-in 70 Boltwood Walk, Amherst or mail to LSSE, 70 Boltwood Walk, Amherst, MA 01002.

Fee Reduction ProgramThe LSSE Department and Commission recognize that the charging of fees for programs may place such an economic hardship on low income families that some children are unable to participate. For that reason, the Town of Amherst LSSE is pleased to announce that youth programs are available at a reduced rate to qualifi ed Amherst residents (certain restrictions will apply). Fee subsidies are awarded on a percentage basis (50-25%) and vary according to family size, income and funds available.

Refunds*Please allow at least 21 days to receive a refund. *Full refunds will be made if programs are canceled, fi lled, or Department changes in offer-ings prohibit your attendance. You may also receive a refund for most programs if your request is made in writing and received in the LSSE Offi ce at least fi ve business days in advance of the start of the activity. These refunds will be subject to a $10 processing fee.

Nonresident FeeSome LSSE administrative and programmatic costs are covered by Amherst tax dollars. Therefore, those who are not residents of Amherst will be assessed a $10 surcharge for each program in which they register.

Insurance/LiabilityMany leisure activities have inherent risks associated with participation. The Amherst Leisure Services and Supplemental Education Depart-ment is not able to provide accident or hospitalization insurance for program participants. Therefore, all participants are strongly advised to have adequate personal coverage. Participation in all department programs shall be at the registrant’s own risk.

Postponements & CancellationsIn instances of bad weather during the day or on weekends, announcements regarding program cancellations will be available after 4:30 p.m. at the LSSE offi ce, 259-3066 and will only indicate whether the program has been canceled. If there is insuffi cient registration or other reasons to prevent an acceptable presentation of an activity, LSSE reserves the right to cancel it.

Inclusion & AccessibilityRequests for special needs accommodations must be made in writing, email, or faxed three weeks prior to the start of a program. Advance notice allows us time to try to fi nd the supports that you may need. We will do our best to successfully accommodate your need. Questions? Contact: Stacey Lecuivre at 259-3191; email: [email protected].

No Smoking PolicyPlease be aware that smoking is prohibited in school buildings and on school grounds at all times. Smoking is also prohibited in town build-ings.

Photographs of ActivitiesOccasionally, LSSE will have a photographer take pictures of our programs for use in our “Leisure Times” program guide, website and other media. If you or any member of your family are a participant of a program and DO NOT wish to have your picture used by LSSE, please contact our offi ce at 259-3065 before the end of the program.
