2.11 Check CT/i Modem is AvailableInsure that a unique Internet Address is available for the CT/i InSite Modem.

HiSpeed CT/i has made a change to the way the OnLine Centers communicate withthe scanner. In the past the protocols used to communicate with the scanner wherebased upon standard/special serial protocols and special security access controls.

HiSpeed CT/i makes use of a Point to Point Protocol (PPP) to communicate with theOnLine Centers. The PPP allows standard TCP/IP connectivity tools to be used as ifthe modem connection where part of a TCP/IP based network. In addition, multiplelevels of access security are used to insure that un–authorized users cannot ‘get intothe system’.

For PPP to work correctly for the InSite connection, a unique IP address must beassigned to either the CT/i modem or to the SGI computer gateway.

Note 1 If the Host Computer (GENESIS) had a second ethernet board to connect as agateway to the facilities network and had unique IP addresses assigned by thefacilities Network Administrator, then that number may be used for the SGI HostComputer IP Gateway Address and may also be used for the Modem IP Address.

Note 2 If the Host Computer (GENESIS) does not have a Unique IP address assigned bythe facilities Network Administrator, then a unique number for the InSite Modem canbe obtained from the OnLine Center during the InSite Connection Check–Out.

SECTION 3EQUIPMENT REMOVAL

This section tells you how to remove the Console and the SCU Cabinet.

3.1 REMOVE SCU(1) Disconnect these cables from the SCU and protect from damage. These cables

will be moved and re–connected to the HiSpeed CT/i Computer/Console:

> Disconnect SCU Power Cable (2118139 or 46–278722G1) at SCU.

Note 3 In case the SCU power cord was cut to length and re–terminated for the RP system,a new Power Cord 2118139 is included in the Upgrade kit of parts.

> Disconnect Scan Abort Cable (2118148 or 46–297565G1) at SCU.

> Disconnect Control LAN Cable (2118150 or 46–296454G2) at SCU

> Disconnect DAS Data Fiber (2117848–2) at FEP Board in SCU.

> Disconnect Network cable connection if present

> Disconnect Camera Video and Pixel CLock Cables

Note 4 The HiSpeed CT/i System requires a Camera Host Control Interface for filmingfunctions.

> Disconnect Camera Control Cable

(2) Disconnect remaining SCU cables and discard.

(3) Disconnect the SCU Ground wire at the Table/Gantry Junction Ground Bar. Tapeboth ends or remove ground wire from conduit or duct.

(4) Move SCU cabinet out of the work area.

Upgrade–22

3.2 REMOVE GENESIS CONSOLE(1) Disconnect the cables from the GENESIS Operators Console.

DANGER FAILURE TO DISCONNECT THE GENESIS CONSOLE POWER CORD AT THEPDU COULD RESULT IN A SHOCK WHEN THE SYSTEM IS TURNED BACK ON.

(2) Disconnect the GENESIS Console power cable from the PDU.

(3) Tape up the Console end of the old power cord or remove the cord from theconduit or duct.

(4) Remove the trim covers over the Console Stabilizer Leg hardware on one side ofthe console and remove the hardware.

DANGER REMOVAL OF THE HARDWARE THAT ATTACHES THE GENESIS CONSOLE TOTHE FLOOR OR RISERS IN THE NEXT STEP MAKES THE GENESIS CONSOLELESS STABLE AND EASIER TO KNOCK OVER.

WE RECOMMENDED THAT YOU ATTACH THE CONSOLE SHIPPING DOLLIESTO THE CONSOLE BEFORE YOU REMOVE ANY OF THE CONSOLEANCHORING HARDWARE.

(5) Remove GENESIS Console Floor anchors if the console is attached to the flooror remove anchors that attach the console to the risers.

(6) Move the GENESIS Console to a location that will allow access to the hardwarethat attaches the stabilizer legs.

(7) Attach the GENESIS Console Shipping Dolly and Fisch–paper provided in theUpgrade Kit to the side of the console that the stabilizer leg was just removedfrom.

(8) Remove the trim covers over the Console Stabilizer Leg hardware on the otherside of the console and remove the hardware.

(9) Attach the GENESIS Console Shipping Dolly and Fisch–paper provided in theUpgrade Kit to the side of the console that the stabilizer leg was just removedfrom.

(10)Move the GENESIS Console out of the work area.

3.3 Remove CT/i Console from Skid(1) Raise the CT/i Console off of the shipping skid using the adjustable dolly casters.

» Raise the console enough to ‘clear’ the wood blocking attached to the shippingskid.

» Roll the console away from the shipping skid.

(2) Move the console to very near it’s final position. Do not lower the console to thefloor yet!

Note 5 Even though the CT/i Console has internal casters, use the Shipping Dollies to movethe console any significant distance.

The larger diameter casters on the shipping dollies make it easier to move over doorand elevator thresholds and cause less shock to the console.

(3) Install the Console Stabilizer Leg Leveling Pads before lowering the Console tothe floor. See Illustration 1–4.

Illustration 1–4CONSOLE STABILIZER PAD INSTALLATION

» Screw the pads all the way into the Stabilizer Legs.

» After the console has been placed in it’s final position lower the pads so that theconsole does not rock forward.

(4) Lower the Console to the floor and remove the shipping dollies.

3.4.2 Adjust Table Top Height and Console Placement

The Console should have arrived with the Monitor top mounted, starting with thefourth bolt from the bottom. The Keyboard Table Top should be attached startingwith the third hole from the bottom. This arrangement will provide for optimumoperator comfort.

Note 6 Your site may require the console to be adjusted from this position.

The important factor in setting the height is operator visibility of the patient beingscanned. If you need to adjust from this starting position keep the relationship ofmounting the Keyboard Table Top one hole lower then the Console Table Top, seeIllustration 1–6 for clarification.

SECTION 6COMPUTER INTEGRATION

DEFINITIONS

Boot Level

This is the software level where no software is running other than what can be run out ofCPU firmware. On GENESIS this was often referred to as ‘Prom Monitor’ or ‘BootPrompt’.

Operating System Level (Irix)

This is the software level in between ‘Boot Level’ and ‘Applications Level’. In GENESIS,this was often referred to as the Unix or Operating System level. The HiSpeed CT/isystem will normally start and login as user ‘ctuser’ leaving the User Interface ready forselection of Irix Commands or start–up of the Scanner Applications Software.

Applications Level

This is the software level where the Scanner specific software has been initialized andthe system could be used to: scan, archive, display, film, network, etc...

6.1 IntroductionThis section describes the reconfig, options installation and touch monitor calibration fora HiSpeed CT/i System which has had the operating system, platform and diagnosticsoftware previously loaded.

6.2 Tools Needed:» GE Service Key (J25)

» Option MOD (optional)

Page 81: 1.x,2.x to Cti Upgrade

DIRECTION 2159823–100REV 5GE MEDICAL SYSTEMS 1.X / 2.X TO CT/I UPGRADE MANUAL

Upgrade–73

6.3 Requirements/Assumptions:(1) All stations in a suite must have the same SUITE ID.

(2) The name of all hosts in the suite and their respective Internet/Ethernet numbers.

(3) The first time a ‘reconfig’ is executed on the system the following information isneeded: Internet (IP) addresses. If the system is to be connected to a networkcontact your system administrator to obtain the IP address for the computers in thesuite. If the system is stand–alone (not connected to any network) the defaultinternet numbers can be used.

CAUTION This procedure instructs the operator to REGEN DATABASEwhen executing a ‘reconfig’. This is required during the initialinstallation or Upgrade of a System because the Databases arenot compatible due to the load/duplication processes used byManufacturing to create these disks. During an initial Installationor Upgrade it is assumed that disks do not contain anyCalibration or Image Data. The ‘reconfig’ process, as describedin this procedure, will destroy any Image or Calibration Data thatexists on the System. If a ‘reconfig’ must be executed to changeSite Specific parameters it is strongly recommended that all Info,Image and Calibration Data be saved on Tape to avoid possibleloss.

6.4 Install Service Key(1) Install the service key into J25, located on the front of the console.

SECTION 10SYSTEM CALIBRATION

All Calibrations plus n–number correction must be performed to insure optimum image quality.

The Q–Cal procedure must be run before calibration and scanning can begin.

Performing a Q–Cal destroys all old phantom CALS. The following warm–ups, etc. shouldbe strictly observed:

» The DAS should have power turned ON for at least 2 hours before calibrating.

» A very cold tube is required. There should be no exposures for at least one andone half hours before Q–Cal is started (this also means no tube warm–up).Tests that do not interfere with tube cooling will be completed during this wait.

» Verify that the mylar window is centered on the patient alignment lights. If themylar window is not properly centered, one of the metal bands of the mylarwindow assembly could be shading the detector, causing Q–Cal to fail.
