Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Peace be upon you.
Warm greetings to all of us.
I am as the Chairman of Stem Cell Research and Development Center, Airlangga University, Surabaya,
Indonesia welcome and thank you to all participants attending the 1st Surabaya International Conference
in Stem Cell and Biomedical Sciences, 3-4 November 2018 in Aula Garuda Mukti, Kampus C Unair. As the
first international conference in Surabaya, this event will provide real insights to improve understanding of
medical application of stem cell and biomedical sciences. The presence of so many key players, experts,
and leaders from several countries attests to the importance of the issues that we are to discuss.
Stem cell research is one of the most fascinating areas of contemporary biology, but, as with many
expanding fields of scientific inquiry, research on stem cells raises scientific questions as rapidly as it
generates new discoveries. Laboratory studies of stem cells enable scientists to learn about the cells'
essential properties and what makes them different from specialized cell types. Scientists are already using
stem cells in the laboratory to screen new drugs and to develop model systems to study treatment in
diseases and clinical application, giving a new discovery in biomedical sciences.
As the chairman of the Stem Cell Research and Development Center committee, I know that the success
of this conference depends on many people working in planning and organizing. In particular we are
grateful to the entire committee, the sponsors and all participants who have participated in order to make
this event came true.
Finally, I and all the organizing committee apologize if there are shortcomings in the implementation of this
event because we realize everyone can be mistaken. Let me reiterate my sincere hope that this
conference will result in success.

INTRODUCTION
In order to improve science and technology
development in an increasingly advanced era.
Therefore, Stem Cell Research and Development
Center of Airlangga University, adopted from the
Center for Higher Education Science and
Technology program (PUI PT) held an international
symposium.
The growing need for extraordinary health services
also demands the development of medical
science that will serve as the basis for quality
services from the scientific, patient safety and
medical people in it. Formal education
alone is still less able to offer a full service.
Therefore, short courses and symposium are very
useful in providing new knowledge to medical
person.
Surgery, Pharmacology and Psychotherap
treatment has grown very rapidly, it is also
necessary think about the body cells regeneration.
Currently stem cells has been developing for
variety of treatments. This knowledge should be
developed and recognized by all medical
people, in Indonesia in order to answer the
community's questions about the ability of
medical people in stem cell treatment.
The seminar was held to answer the challenge, with
the theme of "stem cell and biomedical sciences".
This topic is very interesting because it targets are
patients management with difficult cases that
have only been given "conservative" treatment.
Symposium Purposes
1. Increase understanding of medicolegal
application of stem cell and biomedical
sciences.
2. Improve participants' understanding of stem
cells and biomedical sciences.
3. Improving the publication of research in the
field of stem cells and scopus-indexed
biomedical sciences.

Oral Presentation Oral presentations are simultaneous, themed sessions included throughout the program, with seven to eight presentations per session. Each presenter is allocated 10 minutes for presentation followed by 5 minutes for questions. A Chairperson will coordinate the session.
