Dear friend, this is the evaluation report of MGJSM Kochi region for the activities

undertaken since our initiation in the month of February. I am sure you remember us calling you

for the meeting which was organized at St. Ignatius Church, Ponnurunny on February 11th

and

for those of you who were unable to join us then or who registered late, we continue to extend

our sincere invitation to you to be a part of this movement.

WWHHAATT IISS MMGGJJSSMM??

MGJSM (Mor Gregorios Jacobite Students’ Movement) is the students’

movement and a spiritual organization under the Jacobite Syrian

Christian Association. H. B Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas 1st Catholicose

is our Patron and the President is H.E Dr. Mor Theophilose Kuriakose

Metropolitan. MGJSM works for the development of manifold activities

focusing on Spiritual, Mental, Cultural, Social and Educational fields.

Also helps in moulding Students in the vast arena of student community irrespective of religion,

race, gender or class.

WWHHYY DDOO WWEE HHAAVVEE AANN EEVVAALLUUAATTIIOONN RREEPPOORRTT??

You may wonder why we sent you this. Not

that we are students who don’t have classes or are

drop outs with no work to do, but to prove to you that

we have, within this short span, structured ourselves

and have been working as a group quite effectively

and also to instill that very same interest in you to

join hands with us. You may also wonder why you

should spend your valuable time on this, what good

it will do to you and what difference will it make to

your life? In a day and age where millions of

youngsters are competing with each other, MGJSM

helps mould a person to face the rigors and

challenges that life has to offer.

In fact multitasking is the much revered skill at the workplace today; it is not just the

ability to manage two or more things at a single moment, but also to expose all your skills and

talents, organize your time, enhance ability to prioritize things and above all to enjoy life as a

student by venturing into assorted avenues.

This organization not just provides a

platform to know God and your church better

but also acts as a platform to meet important

people, network yourself, make new friends

and even to refresh your friendship with your

old pals. This also enables you to uncover

your real worth and realize your capabilities.

Being in MGJSM gives you the opportunity

to organize things, ponder on things you

never did in your school and college. There is

no teacher in MGJSM who will say, this is

how things are done, you are your own

teacher, and you will find your own way.

We have a friend amongst our representatives who is preparing for civil service exam.

She says how essential it is to work as a team to be successful in any avenues you chose.

MGJSM shows you how to gel effectively in a vibrant heterogeneous group. We have students

from the field of Medicine, IIT, BDS, Engineering, Law, Computer applications and even

professional students pursuing CA, CS & CMA and other allied courses including other

degree and diploma courses apart from the 10th

, 11th

and 12th

category. In fact MGJSM

Kochi has a combined strength of 120 members and growing; if we come together, we are truly a

formidable number and there’s a lot we can do for the society.

With the able guidance of Sleeba Achen, Toc-H Director Mathew Sir and Adv. Mathew

Skaria Sir we successfully convened our first meeting at Ponnurunny church and our main

strategy therein was to ‘propagate’ the movement to the maximum possible extent. We received

a ‘KALPANA’ from Theophilose Metropolitan that was read in all churches in our unit and a

write up about MGJSM KOCHI was published in our magazine ‘SAHAYATRIKAN’. We

thought of structuring ourselves into subcommittees during this phase. Over that weekend, it

surfaced! From then on, our membership was open and we could gather almost double the

members.

“You now have a platform to perform, it’s up to you to grab the

opportunity and be actively part of this movement and bring your

hidden talents and skills out”.

All of which are on the process of initiation.

We thought of having a fund and a base fund of the elected representatives was soon

formed, although we couldn’t find a means for gathering the main fund. We also plan to gather

more friends from Toc-H, Chinmaya, St. Alberts, St. Teresa’s, Sacred Heart College and BPC

College Piravom.

WWHHAATT HHAAVVEE WWEE DDOONNEE TTIILLLL NNOOWW??

Our region wise meeting is being held regularly.

Distributed Official Letterheads and seals for each sub-regions.

We have fixed MGJSM notice boards in most of our churches, and in other cases, we

are sharing the board with the youth association. All our announcements, activities and

undertakings would be mentioned therein.

We have most successfully have created a blog mgjsmkochi.wordpress.com almost

24 articles in 3 months and more than 500+ hits. We request you to kindly contribute

your worth to it!!

Distributed Exam Prayer cards for all our brothers and sisters appearing for exams,

especially the Boards.

Magazine Editorial Board will be shortly formed as Chief Editor and Sub editors have

already been selected.

Meeting for the entire movement of MGJSM members will be soon announced.

To start a Facebook group.

To conduct a training workshop for all members.

We have an offer from Cipla to conduct a Medical camp!!

To finalize the number and size for our MGJSM T-SHIRTS, this would most probably

be a black one with our emblem and name.

TTHHIINNGGSS TTHHAATT RREESSTTRRAAIINN UUSS

As we have different categories of students from 10th till PG, at every stage there would

be exams that hinder atleast one batch of students.

Huge communication issues, none of us here get any replies from many despite sending

mails, texts and even calls. It’ll be great if everybody can pitch in a little bit if they feel

responsible towards this movement, so we’re counting on you guys to take some more

initiative from now on!!

No amount of money is ever enough! so ideas are always welcome on any kind of

fundraising activities that we can organize to make

our events run smoother.

Many of us are apparently very lazy!!

CCOONNCCLLUUSSIIOONN

Probably every one of you must have heard about

MAD or JESUS YOUTH, we intend to rise to a similar

plane, but we are still on the initiation phase. The elected

representatives are a bunch of strong and efficient students

who keep in touch almost every day to think and bring out

ideas and to materialise the same, however as you can

easily guess nothing can be done without your earnest

support. Friends, don’t just leave it here. It is with lot of difficulties that we have set the

movement in motion, now you have to drive it to farther extend.

Above all don’t forget this is a Jacobite Student’s movement, where we also serve to

strengthen our Community.
