4UcSbY`dY_^The Auto-Zone Basic control system converts a
single zone HVAC unit into a variable air vol-ume/variable air temperature multiple zone system. The microprocessor based Zone Manager calculatesthe heating and cooling requirements for each zone
based on real time information received from eachZone Controller. The Zone Manager then directs theHVAC unit to provide the appropriate amount of heat-ing, cooling, and ventilation to satisfy each zone's re-quirements. A static pressure sensor, which modulatesa bypass damper, maintains a constant system ductpressure.
Substantial savings can be realized using theAuto-Zone Basic system instead of installing multipleHVAC units to accommodate multiple zones. The
Auto-Zone Basic system is versatile and can be usedwith any 3-40 ton HVAC unit. It controls a variety oterminal unit functions including single duct pressuredependent or pressure independent systems.
User friendly, menu driven, fill in the blank pro-gramming, makes the Auto-Zone Basic easy to set upand operate without the need for specialized training.
ZoneView AZ, a Windows based color graphicsoftware package is available at no additional chargeThe optional CommLink II must be ordered and con-nected to a PC in order to use the software for on-sitecontrol and monitoring. If remote monitoring and con-trol is required, an optional modem must be ordered osupplied.

Auto-Zone is a new approach to providing simple, cost effective, control solutions to many standard unitary HVACsystems. Auto-Zone provides a very competitive controls solution for buildings which require more control than aprogrammable room thermostat will provide yet are not budgeted for full building automation systems.
These systems come pre-engineered, pre-programmed, and fully documented. This provides two main benefitsfor the contractor, engineer, and end user:
1. Advanced direct digital control technology for comfort and energy savings at up to 50% lowercost than traditional direct digital control systems.
2. A system that is simple to use allowing almost any HVAC technician to install and start-up thesystem without the need for specialized training.
The following pages are designed to give you a perspective of what Auto-Zone can do for your HVAC control ap-plications. Please contact us for more information or a list of distributorsin your area.

The Zone Manager monitors each zone and inturn controls the HVAC unit to satisfy the requirements
for each individual zone while maintaining efficient op-eration and comfort.
Data entry is accomplished through a keypad andbacklighted 4 line by 20 character Liquid Crystal Dis-play. User friendly, menu driven programming makesthe Auto-Zone system easy to set up and operatewithout the need for specialized training.
The Zone Controller monitors the space tem-perature and allocates the proper air flow into its as-signed space to achieve the desired comfort and ven-tilation levels. If the supply air temperature is near thezone temperature setpoint, the zone damper modu-lates to reduce or increase air flow as needed. If sup-ply air will not benefit the local zone, the controller willdirect the damper actuator to a minimum position andwait for a change in supply air temperature.
For pressure independent applications, an optionalairflow sensor can be added. The airflow sensor iseasily installed by plugging into a jack located on thecontroller board. The controller automatically recog-nizes the presence of the sensor on system power upand configures for pressure independent operation.
Drybulb economizer control is available via ananalog 0-10 VDC output from the Zone Manager. An
optional Wetbulb Module (OE782) is available to provide wetbulb calculations for maximum economizeefficiency.
An optional auxiliary relay board is available focontrol of auxiliary heat, series fan and parallel fancontrol. The relay board connects to the zone controllevia a plug-in modular connector.
The Zone Sensor is a patented design, flush walmounted sensor. A special plate on the face of thesensor accurately samples space conditions, yet re
jects the influence of internal wall temperatures. Thesensor comes in four models:
Sensor only Sensor w/ push button override Sensor w setpoint adjustment Sensor w/ override and setpoint adjustment
Each Zone Sensor setpoint adjustment is programmable from 0 to 5 via the Zone Manager.
