Istanbul

Having served as the capital city of the Roman, Byzantine, Latin, and the Ottoman Empires, Istanbul has a history of over 5000 years old and is usually considered as the birthplace of civilization. Besides, Istanbul is chosen as joint European Capital of Culture for 2010 and is in UNESCO World Heritage List. Lying partly in Europe and partly in Asia on the traditional land route between Europe and Asia Minor, Istanbul fits the vision of EBES, which emphasizes both on Asia and Europe. Also, its physical location causes a travel advantage for those who will participate in the conference.
