Color in everyday businessThe Color Business Report covers color computer products, colorreprographics , and related issues. An editorial premise is that,in time, computer-based color will be incorporated into everydaybusiness applications, and will begin to be used in the home, aswell. In writing the Color Business Report, the editors hope tohelp product managers and strategic planners understand thelinks between products and applications by mixing product news,feature articles on technologies and applications, and user profiles.

Broad product coverageWith some exceptions, color applications rely on a set ofcomponents that have to work together (scanners, monitors, andprinters, for example). For this reason, the charter for productcoverage in the Color Business Report is quite broad. In anenvironment that is headed toward universal or common platformsand away from proprietary solutions, the success of a particularcolor product depends greatly on the performance of other productsin the system. Thus, we feel, product managers and students of colormarkets are challenged to keep current on product categories thatmay be new to them, and out of their usual domain.

Reporting on end usersThe Color Business Report has a special interest in reporting onusers of new products, from leading edge users whoexerciseproducts to their fullest, and from users who might be

called “the target market.” Our coverage of user applications isbased on personal or telephone interviews, usually with theintention of describing the environment of use and the salesenvironment.
