CAUS has conCluded wi thout do ubt that the various doc uments ar e no t genuine g o v e ~ e n t re iea ses, so the onl y ques t i on re_gard i ng the orIgin Of the doc uments is whether they I r e of f icial orunoffi cial hoax es.Accordlng to Mo or e, his copy o f the b r i ~ f i n g pape r came on arol l of 35 mm film sent anonymously to I co lleague, J aime Shande r a,i n Decemb er 198 4. Moor e re leased hi s cop Ies, made from the fU m, in

Also cho sen srepagas 13 or Goo d' s copy of the briefing from hi s CIA so urce as reproduced in AaOVE TOP SECRET.1) The "Hagic Marke r " Delet ions - A o n of t he i nk dele t ions of t he security ma rk ings on the Moore and Cood ve r sions re_veals that Wh i le the dele t ions are not identical the r e Is a markedsimi l arity. One seesno significant di f f er ence be t ween t he Moor e and Good ver s i ons in theway the Markings were applied.2) The "vertical R.ld\jes" _ If one compares pages from bothversions of t he docum ent you will notice a pattern of pho to copier

Since t he Qa rk lng appears onbol h copies , I rotced t o belI eve that both ca.8 from the same copymachine at different times .

Co nclusionsI t Is important that the various anomalies c i ted above are notidentical in every as far as clar i ty , positlon and

: : : ~ ; ; i : : t concerned. If they were i t could be argued that the or l gina l, photogra phed and sen t to Shlnderl , and I l legedly copied andto Good by a CIA sourc e , possessed these anomalies. As such eachperson's version could s t I l l be at t r ib uted to -a government sourc e. Thi sis not the else her e.The Hoore/Sha ndera copy wa s recei ved i n 1984. HardCOPY had to bemade from the photographiC f l 1 . , r esul t ing in caples possessing t heInomaiilS particular to the photocopy . Ichine used by the . TimothyGood.'s copies contain the sa me kind s of anomalies, lIIeaning that themachine used by Hoore/Shandera was the source of Good's copies.Press lecount, in 8ri ta in quo ted Good as say ing th a t the documentswere f ro lll a "rel iable A.er l can liource who hali c l ose connections withthe inte l ligence comm unity." I n his September }O, 1989, Focus newsletter, Moore Claimed thathe was aware of covert in terest In La rr y Fawcett by the Air ForceOffice o f Special Investig at ions (OSI) . Our book was said to havebeen obtained by the OSI through an "operative" and that surveil lanceof Fawcett was through "someone who knew him well."Since this edi tor , according to Moore, was not o f suffiCient in -teres t to warrant OSI surveil lance, we dec ided to pursue bnly Fawcet t ' salleged OSI f i le .
