The Commodore's Comments - Commodore Captain Ken Burgio
I hope everyone has been enjoy-ing their summer and getting some good boating in during these very hot and humid days. Labor Day is just around the cor-ner? Already? It doesn’t seem
possible, but it is true. If anyone has some plans for a Labor Day cruise, be sure to spread the word and tell your fellow Club members. I know there are a lot of people looking for somewhere to go, and you know how the old saying goes: “The more, the merrier.”
Thanks go out to P/C Schieder and crew for the P/C & Dock Party that was held in August. We could have had a better showing from our members but we still have fun! I just wanted to remind everyone that we are
having a comedy show on Saturday, September 24th. There will be three comedi-ans, with the headliner be-ing Nick Siracuse. See the flyer for details. Get your tickets before the event sells out! Just a reminder that September’s meetings go back to the first two Tuesdays of the month. See you around the Club! FTGOTC Commodore Captain Ken Burgio

NEWS FROM THE REAR Commodore—Daniel Bright
Hallelujah, we did it! Another year and CanalFest 2016 is in the record books. Ken and I would like to thank everybody who assisted in this event and
contributed to another successful fund-raiser for the club. This years totals ($$) were a bit less then in years past which we feel was due in large part to the hot weather and small crowds throughout the entire week.
A new candidate was voted on this month and recommended for membership. Please welcome Mr. Michael Capen, son of Fran and Linda Capen.
The boat lift project will begin this month - all the new rigging has arrived and the plans to complete the work are being scheduled. Please refer to the bulletin board in the club for scheduled work dates.
Finally, as the fall season has begun I have made an effort to keep the club grounds weed free - if you know of something that needs my attention please let me know.

Vice Commodore Jamie Schmitt Summer is more than half over, but there is still plenty of great weather and boating to be done this year. It has certainly been a great summer for boating.
An early reminder to save the date of Saturday, October 22nd to come support Commodore Ken Burgio at the Inner Harbor Yacht Club’s 53rd annual Commodore’s Ball held in his honor. The flyer is up at the club, and the invitations will be on the way soon. Please come out to celebrate the Commo-dore; the balls are always an amazing time with great music, great food, and great friends.
This month I would like to thanks Dan Hudson for fixing the hole in the boater’s bathroom hallway. I would also like to thank Bill Vaughan for putting the
new light fixture in the carport. As always, if you see anything that needs attention please call 912-7226. The Vice, Jamie Schmitt

September is upon us (sigh). Some
people refer to Labor Day as the
end of summer, but we boaters
know better. There is still plenty of
good boating weather ahead! It's
been a good summer for boating. If you didn't get out
enough, shame on you! Be sure to share you Labor Day
plans with members for it is true the more the merrier.
IHYC'S Annual Red Flannel is soon upon us. As you may
know I worked hard in researching new venues for this
event. We were very near moving Red Flannel to Lum-
berjacks but construction to take place with no definite
start for completion dates. So without that information, I
was not able to commit to them. I can honestly tell you
they were disappointed, they really wanted to host our
event.
I have been pleasantly surprised with the amount of R.F.
Postcards I received back. Thank you for the many sug-
gestions and 99% positive feedback. While all of these
suggestions cannot be implemented this year, however, I
will act on some. All of the suggestions I received will be
recorded and be passed along to the 2017 F/C.
A common thread among respondents was the gratitude
for the hand-working chefs and crew who make this
event happen. Please be sure to get your applications in
as soon as possible to help with shopping and slip assign-
ments. With your continued support and participation
hopefully this event will go on for many years to come.
Enjoy your September!
Your F/C Jeremy Schmitt

From Your President
This summer has just flown by. I
can’t believe it is already the sea-
son for pumpkin-flavored every-
thing! With September upon us
now, there are two reminders to
put out there: one, our annual
fundraiser is coming to a close (please be sure to hand in
your ticket money to Nancy Myszka by the Red Flannel
Cruise); and two, our monthly meetings will resume on
Tuesday, September 20th. We will be having food at 6:30
PM prior to our meeting. I hope you can all attend.
Due to the Labor Day holiday, the monthly Fish Fry will be
held on Friday, September 9th. Dessert donations (pies,
cookies, brownies, etc.) are always welcomed and appreci-
ated. The annual Red Flannel Cruise is scheduled for Sep-
tember 16th through the 18th – see the flyer in the news-
letter for details. We will be drawing the winner of the Sal-
vatore’s package Saturday evening during the Red Flannel
– best of luck to everyone!
Happy Labor Day!

Visitors Welcome
Fish Fry—Eric Mowry August was pretty busy as we served 143 dinners that evening. There were many compliments hand-ed out that evening which were well deserved. As you can see Team 2 still needs help filling in vacancies at major positions on that team. Please contact me if you can help. Soup service will resume in October and I would like to hear any suggestions you may have. Please remind your friends and family that due to the Labor Day holiday weekend, September’s fish fry will be held on Friday September 9th. Team 1 (who feels that name is quite fitting) is up next this month. Let’s hope we see you all there and keep them busy! Thank you, Eric Mowry Fish Fry Chairman & Director
