Barcelona,30July2019–TheHispanoSuizaCarmenhasmadeitsglobaldynamicdebutonthestreetsofBarcelona,itshomecity.Cruisingthefamouscitystreetsandcoastalroads,thefully-electrichyperluxgrandtourerwaspilotedbyaselectionofdrivers,includingSergioMartinezCampos,thebrand’sCEOandLlucMartí,TechnicalDirectorofCarmen.WithlessthanayearuntilcustomerdeliveriesbegininJune2020,theCarmen’sdebutsawitglidepastaselectionofBarcelona’sarchitecturalanddesignlandmarks includingGaudi’sLaSagradaFamilia,theMuseuNacionald'ArtdeCatalunya,andthemodernandimposingAgbarTower.ThedriveincludedanexclusiveopportunityforcustomerstoseeandexperiencethecarinmotionaspartofthetourthatalsotookinsomeofBarcelona’smostexclusivehotels.SincetheglobalpremiereoftheCarmenattheGenevaMotorShow,thedevelopmentteamhas worked on a comprehensive testing and refinement programme. The car now has anentirely new suspension system, alongside a series of weight-reduction and rigidityenhancements. The chassis development also includes crash structure optimisation withextensiveuseofcarbonfibre,enhancingperformance,whilesheddingweight.Miguel SuquéMateu, Hispano Suiza President, said: “We are extremely proud of our longheritage,whichdatesbacktoourbeginningsonthestreetsofBarcelonain1904.ThislegacyandthestyleiconsofourhomecitymadeiteasytodecidewheretheCarmenshouldmakeitsglobaldynamicdebut.”ThenextstageoftheCarmen’sjourneyintensifiesvehiclespeedanddynamismtorealisethecar’sfull–1,019PS–potential.Thehyperluxgrandtourerwillfirstconductaseriesofon-roadtestsinthenorthofCatalonia,beforemovingtotheworld-famousAscariracingcircuitforhigh-speedtestingandhandlingdevelopment.BarcelonaandHispanoSuizaHispanoSuiza’sheadquarters,technicalcentre,andmanufacturingfacilityareallinBarcelona–acityintertwinedwiththebrand’sproudSpanishspiritandstrongfamilylegacy.OwnedbythefourthgenerationoftheSuquéMateufamily,HispanoSuizabuiltmorethan12,000luxuryperformancecarsand50,000aeroplaneenginesbetween1904and1946.
