F0 Vacuum Upgrade

• Replacement of A150, P150, P1, Tev US and Tev DS spool sections

• 3” and 4” diameter Electro-polished, H2 degassed beam tube

• Addition of Differential Pumping to limit conventional beamline gas loads

• Addition of TSP in Tevatron Spool sections (must maintain 1e-9 Torr to be effective)

Differential Pumping

• Gas load of A150, P150 and P1 lines are greater than Lamberston gas load (must also consider MI-60 liner test results)

• Q(A150) = 5.76e-6 Torr*liter/(sec*cm^2)• Q(P150) = 3.96e-6 Torr*liter/(sec*cm^2)• Q(P1) = 4.68e-6 Torr*liter/(sec*cm^2)• Q(Lam) = 5.28e-6 Torr*liter/(sec*cm^2)• Factor of 2 improvement• Q(Lam w/ liner) = ?

TSP will remove CO, H2O, but not CH4. Ti needs to cover only 5 monolayers. Must use Varian Starcell in conjunction w/ TSP to pump noble gases

Virtual Leak of Liner

• Lamination cracks should be < 1% of entire exposed surface area (Dave Harding)

• Perforated area 2.5% of entire liner surface area (Alex Chen)

• MI-60 Testing

CuBe Liner Vacuum Prep

• Cleaning Distilled water heated to 110 F and ultrasonic bath

Distilled water and Citranox (1%) ultrasonic bath

(PH 8-9)

Dry with alcohol and nitrogen

• Pre-bake• Vacuum testing at MI-60 (RGA)• In stu bake with entire F0 vacuum upgrade

Future Considerations

• Use of 3” diameter beam tube contingent on aperture studies

• Complete vacuum system review mid July after liner vacuum testing

• Consider Multiwire gas load on vacuum system
